Ora Lee “Sam” Wright – Bedford
February 25, 1944 – June 20, 2018
Ora Lee “Sam” Wright, 74, of Bedford, died at 11:19 am on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at his residence.
Born February 25, 1944, in Indianapolis, he was the son of Ralph G. and Maria M. (Mosier) Wright. He married Edna Hacker on May 6, 1989 and she preceded him in death on December 27, 2016. He retired from GM Powertrain as a machine operator and custodian. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of the Englewood Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Ronald Wright, of Oolitic; a step-son, William Howard, II, of Bloomington; a step-daughter, Joy Taylor, of Springville; a granddaughter, Christina Taylor; two grandsons, Ashton Thompson, and Maxwell Thompson; a brother, Standley Wright, and wife, Carol, of Bedford; two half-brothers, Dwayne Wright, of Mitchell and Alan Wright, of Jasper; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his step-mother, Wilma Wright and a brother, Gerald Wright.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, June 22nd at the Day & Carter Mortuary. Funeral services will be
at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 23rd in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor David Ferry officiating. Burial will follow in the Silverville Baptist Cemetery with military rites accorded at the graveside by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion.
The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the White River Humane Society.
