Lloyd Gerkin – Mitchell
January 23, 1929 – March 17, 2018
Lloyd Gerkin, 89, of Mitchell, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at Indiana University Health Hospice House in Bloomington.
Born January 23, 1929, in Monroe County, he was the son of Hershel and Pearl (Kern) Gerkin. He married Jessie Colleen Carroll May 4, 1947.
Lloyd retired from General Motors and was a farmer and carpenter. He graduated from Huron High School in 1947. Lloyd enjoyed woodworking, fishing, watching sports, and traveling in his motor home.
Survivors include his wife, Colleen of Mitchell; children, Donna Kendall of Mitchell, Julie Lynn (Steve) Drake of Lebanon
Steve Gerkin of Mitchell, Brian (Peggy) Gerkin of Mitchell; grandchildren, Doug (Sandy) Kendall, Carol Barber, Michael Kendall, Amy (Jeff) Wilson, Chrislyn (Mike) Particka, Daniel Gerkin, Emily (Nathan) Rogers, Thomas Gerkin, Jacob (Audra) Gerkin, Elizabeth (Bryce) Stephens, and Allie Gerkin; great grandchildren, Andrew (Rebecca) Barber, Aaron Barber, David (Kelsey) Kendall, Angela Kendall, Madeline and Sam Wilson, Ben and Claire Particka, Alivia, Jack, Max, and Liam Rogers, Shane and Elaina Gerkin, and Madison, Ethan, and Ella Gerkin.
His parents; grandson, Phillip Kendall; and brother and sister-in- law, Louie and Evelyn Gerkin, preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Kathy Mae Bennett – Bloomington
March 20, 1959 – March 16, 2018
Kathy Mae Bennett, 58, of Bloomington, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2018, at the home of her sister in Bedford.
Born March 20, 1959, in Seymour, she was the daughter of Emmit W. and Joan Gladys (Henderson) Hall. Kathy was a homemaker.
Survivors include her children, Mandy Mounce of Mitchell, Brandon Mounce of Mitchell; 4 grandchildren;sister, Karen Hall of Bedford; brothers, Wayne Hall of Mitchell, Keith Hall of Harrodsburg.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Cremation was chosen with a graveside service at a later date in Mitchell Cemetery.

Delcie Sue “Susie” McCarty – Bedford

Delcie Sue “Susie” McCarty, 64, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018, at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born May 31, 1953, in Seymour, she was the daughter of J. B. and Irene (Vaughn) Witt. She married Lawrence David McCarty September 5, 1971, and he preceded her in death December 24, 2012. Susie was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend.
Survivors include her children, Carl David (Ashley) McCarty of Mitchell, Jerry Lee McCarty of Williams, Michael Adam (Jacqueline) McCarty of Bedford, Amanda Sue McCarty of Bedford, Tiffany Erin McCarty of Bedford; siblings, Mary Wolfe of West Virginia, Judy Harris of Ohio, Connie Kern of Ohio, Johnny Witt of Kentucky; 17 grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren
Her parents, husband, and brother, Stanley J. Witt, preceded her in death.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Burial will be at Spring Hill Cemetery in Shoals at a later date.

Janice Nadine Holmes – Bedford

Janice Nadine Holmes, 62, of Bedford died at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, March 16, 2018 at home surrounded by her family.
Born December 11, 1955 in Bedford, IN she was the daughter of Donald R. Holt and Frances P. (Mundy) Holt Bosell. She was a Team Leader in the Deli at Jay C Plus in Bedford. Jan enjoyed crafting, reading, and spending time with her family, friends, pets, and watching the I.D. Channel.
Survivors include two daughters: Dena R. Kimmel and Shawna L Cady (Dennis French) all of Bedford; two granddaughters: Trinity D. and Gracie R. Cady both of Bedford; three sisters: Connie Cundiff of Shoals, Dona Wheat of Shoals, and Becky (John) Sellers of Trinity Springs; one brother, Monty Holt of Shoals; her beloved pets: Minnie and Molly, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her step father, Henry Bosell, and one nephew, Tony Wheat.
Jan’s wishes were to be cremated without services. In lieu of flowers her family suggests that donations be made in her memory to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Arrangements are under the direction of Day & Carter Mortuary.
