Eli Tommy New – Mitchell

Eli Tommy New, 85, of Mitchell, died Sunday, February 18, 2018 at I.U. Health Bedford Hospital.
Born December 6, 1932 in Wayne Co., Kentucky, he was the son of Lloyd and Vannie (New) New. He married Lena Marie Warren on May 18, 1956 and she preceded him in death on December 23, 1995. He was a hooker at Indiana Limestone and a laborer for Kaiser Aluminum in Ravenswood. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Japan during the Korean War and a member of the Cecil Martin Post #250 American Legion in Mitchell. He was a deacon at the General Baptist Church in East Oolitic for several years and later joined Calvary Chapel Church. He was a friend to everyone and would do whatever he could to help without expecting anything in return.
Survivors include a son, Bill New, of Mitchell; three grandchildren, Landon, Leo and Wylie New; a brother, Daniel, of Bedford; a sister, Donna, of Bloomington; several nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in- law.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, February 23rd in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Jim McDowell officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by members of the Cecil Martin Post #250 American Legion. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the hour of service on Friday, February 23rd at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Jerry Dean Milligan II – Mitchell

Jerry Dean Milligan II, 29, of Mitchell, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2018, at his residence.
Born October 18, 1988, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Jerry Dean Milligan and Patricia Kay York. He married Amber Marie Busick July 9, 2016. Jerry enjoyed playing video games and was a member of Ruffcut Ministries.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday, February 22, at Haverly Funeral Chapel. Cremation was chosen and burial will be at a later date in Mitchell Cemetery.
