Thomas Franklin Thorne Sr. – Bedford

Thomas Franklin Thorne Sr., 88, of Bedford, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Stonebridge Health Campus.
Born May 22, 1929, in Bedford, he was the son of Lawrence C. and Bessie (Skeen) Thorne. He married Patricia Ann Wadeking on July 16, 1950; and she preceded him in death on January 13, 2015. He was a graduate of Bedford High School Class of 1948 and was a member of First Baptist Church since 1950. Tom was the former owner of Thorne’s Market, Bedford Bicycle Center, Thorne’s Homes, and the current owner of Town and Country Mobile Home Park.
Survivors include his daughters, Patsy (Ed) Moore, and Angie (Jim) Turner; sons, John David (Kathy) Thorne, and Phil (Amy) Thorne; daughter-in-law, Debbie (Claude) Thompson; grandchildren, Chuck Moore, Tyson (Kay) Moore, Amy (Aaron) Cabaniss, John (Jennifer) Thorne, Travis (Amber) Thorne, Laura (Nathan) Flick, Olivia (Alex) Webb, Zach (fiancé Kelli Hostettler) Thomas, Lindsey (Nick) Tyree, Abby (Derek) George, and Caleb Thorne; twenty-two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and an attentive great-nephew, Adam Thorne.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia Ann; sons, Thomas “Corky” Thorne Jr. and Infant Thorne; and siblings, Evelyn Bolander, Mary K. Young, Betty Jean Carter, L.C. Thorne, and Barbara Manalan.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 19, 2018 at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes, with Rev. Lee Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday and from 10 a.m. until the service hour on Monday at the funeral chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Tom Thorne Family Scholarship through the Bedford North Lawrence Scholarship Foundation.

Debra “Debbie” S. Baker – Bedford

Debra “Debbie” S. Baker, 63, of Bedford, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2018 at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.
Born March 8, 1954, in Lawrence County, Indiana, she was the daughter of C. Leon and Nina (New) Cummings. Debbie attended Shawswick High School. She worked for Ford Visteon in the gauge control and layout department.
She was a member of Free Methodist Church.
Survivors include her son, Lance Baker, of Bedford; grandson, Braden Baker, of Bedford; sister, Alice Herr-Harper and husband Alan, of Naples, FL; brother Barry Cummings and wife Michelle, of Bedford; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, David Leon, in infancy.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes, with Pastor Ronnie McLain officiating. Visitation will be 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral chapel.

James Edward Ritchison, 43, of Oolitic, passed away Wednesday, February 14, at his residence.

Roger E. Cornett – Avon
August 12, 1948 – February 10, 2018
Roger E. Cornett, 69, of Avon, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 12:14 a.m. in Bonita Springs, Florida.
He was born August 12, 1948 in Middletown, Ohio to James H. and Stella Marie (Lane) Cornett. He married Pamela J. Heichelbech and she survives.
He was the owner and operator of Roger’s Barber Shop in Avon, Indiana and was a member of the Avon American Legion #145 in Avon. He was a member of the NRA, an avid fisherman, enjoyed skeet shooting and was an off-road adventurer.
He is survived by his father, James Cornett, of Shoals; his wife Pamela Heichelbech, of Avon; a daughter, Crystal Adams and husband John, of Brownburg; a son Casey Cornett and wife Lisa of Plainfield; grandchildren Braden Adams and Madison Adams; step-grandchildren, Tyler Tooley, Natasha Tooley and Kody Tooley; great-granddaughter Addison Tooley; five sisters, Marilyn Tow, of Indianapolis, Shirley Harding, of Shoals, Becky Truelove, of Seymour, Tennessee, Sally Bunch, of Shoals and Shari Flippins, of Santa Claus and one brother Richard Cornett, of Loogootee.
He is preceded in death by his mother, two brothers, Jim Cornett and Randy Cornett and sister Betty Lou Cornett.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, Febuary 18, 2018 at the Queen-Lee Chapel in Shoals, with pastor Nathan Thomas officiating. Interment will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until the service time on Sunday. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 9th at the American Legion Post #145 in Avon.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be may to support myeloma research at the IU Simon Cancer Center. Please make gifts payable to IU Foundation/Multiple Myeloma Research Fund. Envelops will be available at the Queen-Lee Chapel during visitation.
