L. Fred Baker – Bedford

Fred Baker, 73, of Bedford, died at his residence on Friday, January 5, 2018.
Born September 16, 1944, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Charles K. and Eileen (Harvey) Baker. He married LaTonia Jo Sorrells on June 19, 1987, and she survives. He was a member of the Teamsters Union #135, American Motorcycle Association Bedford Boat and Sportsman’s Club and a lifetime member of the NRA.
Survivors include his wife, LaTonia, of Avoca; one daughter, Denise Knott and husband Andy, of St. Louis, MO; one grandchild, Ariadne; 2 step-sons, Kevin Phillips and wife, Andrea, of Heltonville, William Phillips and wife, Janet, of Jeffersonville; two grandsons, Cody and Jesse Phillips, both of Huron; two great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; three sisters, Katherine Lantz, Carolyn Wellman, and Judith Mason, all of Bedford; two brothers, James Baker, of Mitchell and Billy Don Baker, of Bedford.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Charles Baker.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 9th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Jerry Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Kentucky Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday at Day & Carter Mortuary.

Mary Levena (Martindale) Ratkovich – Bedford

Mary Levena (Martindale) Ratkovich, 78, of Bedford, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2018.
Born October 27, 1939, in Martin County, she was the daughter of Ezra and Mary Geneva (Wagner) Martindale. She married Daniel Ratkovich on July 30, 1955 and he survives. Mary had worked at M. Fine & Sons for six years, at RCA with B.E.W. Union for fourteen years, and then at General Motors with U.A.W. Local #440 for twenty-three years. She retired in 2002.
Survivors include her husband, Daniel, of Bedford; three children, Ricky Ratkovich and wife, Janice, of Mitchell,
Michael Ratkovich and wife, Traci, Tina McPike and husband, Robert, all of Bedford; a sister, Janet Baker, of
Springville; a sister-in- law, Velma Jean Martindale of Springville; five grandchildren; several great grandchildren;
three step-grandchildren; several step-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James Emery Martindale.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 8th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Marty Speer officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 6: p.m. on Sunday, January 7th and from 9 a.m. until the hour of service on Monday, January 8th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
