Jeffrey Scott “Blacky” Blackwell – Bedford
November 28, 1961 – April 2, 2017
Jeffrey Scott “Blacky” Blackwell, 55, of Bedford, died Sunday, April 2, 2017 at his residence.
Born November 28, 1961, in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Jackie Lee and Janice Kay (Smith) Blackwell. He was a graduate of Bedford North Lawrence High School with the class of 1980. While in high school, he was selected to the first team all-state in football and all conference in baseball. He received his bachelor’s degree from Indiana University. He was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity and the First Baptist Church in Bedford. He had worked in sales, and loved his family and sports. He loved deeply and was deeply loved but what he loved most was watching his son, Logan play hockey and his daughter, Jacke cheer.
Survivors include a son, Jeffrey Logan Blackwell and fiancé, Christina Beyerl; a daughter, Jackelyn Blackwell and boyfriend, Damian Lahr; and their mother, Terri Blackwell, all of Fishers; a brother, Jim Blackwell and wife, Julie, of Atlanta; a sister, Julie Chase, of Bedford; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 6th at the First Baptist Church in Bedford with Pastor Kyle Chase officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the hour of service on Thursday, April 6th at the First Baptist Church.

Iris Jean Wood
May 28, 1915 – April 2, 2017
Iris Jean Wood, 101, of Bedford, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017, at I.U. Hospice House, Bloomington.
She was born May 28, 1915, in Kahoka Missouri, to Claude L. and Lily (Alexander) Fish. She was a 1932 graduate of Bedford High School and resided in Bedford most of life. She was married twice, first to Tom Sargent in 1940, who preceded her in death in 1955, and to Charles L. “Chic” Wood, in 1964. He preceded her in death in 1968. She retired as office manager of Thompson Dairy. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church and the I.U. Health Bedford Auxiliary. She was passionate about knitting, baking, and her family. She will be remembered for her sweet demeanor and loving spirit.
She is survived by her daughter Ann (Byron) Steele, Bedford and her son Timothy (Fran) Sargent, Goodyear, AZ; two grandchildren Barbara (Scott) Mitchell, Bradley (Kim) Steele, M.D., and five great granddaughters Kaitlyn, Lauren, and Molly Mitchell; Iris and Isabella Steele.
She was preceded in death by two brothers John and Richard Fish, and two sisters Judith McCarrell and Betty Henderson.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 1515 20th Street, in Bedford.
