River Barlow, eleven months, died at 6:35 a.m. on Monday, February 20, 2017 at Community Hospital South in Marion Co.
Born February 28, 2016 in Bedford, she was the daughter of David and Janice (Hall) Barlow.
Survivors include her parents; three siblings, Haylee and Braxton Hall and Hunter Barlow; grandparents, Timothy and Faye Hall, Cammie Tucker, Raymond Sykes, and Martie Johnson; great grandparents, Diana Beasley, Phyllis Barlow, and Grandma Sandy; aunts and uncles, Angela and Derrick Schultz, Dwayne Barlow, Tyler Sykes, Raymond Sykes, Jr., Tosha Young, Cristal Dean, Christie and Tony Wininger; cousins, Alexis Schultz, Axel and Zeke; several other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her great grandparents, Iva Miller, Howard Hall, Kathy Barlow, George Barlow, Jane Sykes, and David Johnson; a great aunt, Cherrie Mills.
Visitation will be from Noon until 2 p.m. on Friday, February 24th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Patricia Maxine McAlister – Mitchell

Patricia Maxine McAlister, 91, of Mitchell, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2017, at Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born June 21, 1925, in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, she was the daughter of Irl Maxwell and Jesse (Porter) Brock. She married J. T. McAlister October 7, 1962, and he preceded her in death February 15, 1996.
Pat began her teaching career in Michigan. After moving to Indiana, she taught in Orleans and Tunnelton becoming the Tunnelton principal before finishing her 36 years in education as the principal of Lincoln Elementary School in Bedford. She was a lifetime educator. She was a member of the Indiana Retired Teachers Association, the Orleans United Methodist Church Knit-Wits, and the American Quarter Horse Association. She loved horses and was involved in all aspects of riding and showing horses. Pat belonged to writers groups and enjoyed writing poems, stories, and had a couple of published books.
Survivors include her children, Cynthia M. (Victor) Ray of Louisville, Victoria (Mark) Henderson of Orleans, Pete McAlister of Mitchell; stepchildren, Mike (Jan) McAlister of Michigan; Robert (Barbara) McAlister of Florida; grandchildren, Vince Ray, Nick Ray, Jason Henderson, Justin Henderson, Erin McAlister, Natasha McAlister, and Jessica Lee; 5 step grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren
Her parents; husband; and brother, Richard Brock, preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 25, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Reverend Robert Martindale officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Horeb Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. till 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
Casketbearers will be Mark Henderson, Jason Henderson, Justin Henderson, Vic Ray, Vincent Ray, Nick Ray, and Jacob Ray.

Michael McCoy – Mitchell
Michael Eldon McCoy, 54, of Mitchell, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2017, at his residence following a house fire.
Born March 9, 1962 in Fort Knox, Kentucky, he was the son of Michael and Sharon Roselle (King) McCoy. Michael was employed in the building trades, and was a U. S. Army veteran.
Surviving: sons, Travis McCoy of Fort Myers, Florida and Alex McCoy of Georgia; father, Michael McCoy of Fort Myers, Florida; sisters, Yvonne Michele Clapham of Mitchell and Cinda Jo Layton of Cape Coral, Florida; one granddaughter
His mother preceded him in death.
Cremation was chosen with no visitation or service.
