George Boyd Deckard, Sr. – Bedford

George Boyd Deckard, Sr., 77, of Bedford, died at 12:26 p.m. on Monday, July 25, 2016 at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born August 12, 1938 in Lawrence Co., he was the son of James W. and Madelyn (Kinser) Deckard. He was a retired truck driver/mechanic for Elliott Stone Co. He attended Burgoon Baptist Church and enjoyed working on antique cars and tractors and spending time with his family. He married Sharon Hawkins and later married Linda Urbanke.
Survivors include four sons, Mike Deckard and wife, Anna, George Deckard and wife, Diana, Tim Deckard and wife, Brenda, and Kenny Deckard all of Bedford; two daughters, Ruth Riley and companion, Gaylan Mauer, of Bloomington and Theresa Cain and husband, Dean, of Bedford; six grandchildren, MaKayla, Michael, Cierra, Matthew, Brandy and Bobbi; seven great grandchildren; one brother, James Deckard and wife, Roanna, of Bedford; a sister, Julie Spirer, of Bedford; and a friend, Paula East.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Cathy Deckard; a brother, Jerry Don Deckard, and a granddaughter, Lisa Deckard.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 29th at the Burgoon Baptist Church with Pastor Harold Godsey officiating. Burial will follow in Kinser Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 28th at the church.
