Donavon Cecil Stroud – Bedford
Donavon Cecil Stroud, 80, of Bedford, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation – Greenwood.
Born April 9, 1936, in Paoli, he was the son of Harry E. and Pauline (Huffines) Stroud. He married Lila Cooper and she preceded him in death April 8, 1992. Donavon retired from Edwards Heating and Cooling. He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and retired from the Army with 19 years of service. Donavon was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.
Survivors include his children, Jordan Stroud of Bedford and Doyle Stroud, Gary Stroud, Darla Stroud, Robert Stroud, Eric Stroud, Rhonda Stroud, Donnie Stroud and Matthew Stroud; stepdaughter, Ginger Purdy of Bedford; grandson, Etzio Stroud and several other grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Ronnie Stroud of Louisville, Kentucky, Beverly Rushing of Louisville, Kentucky, Terry Stroud of Louisville, Kentucky, Jerry Stroud of Louisville, Kentucky, Teresa Watt of Georgetown
His father; mother, Pauline Gollar; daughter, Donna Ruth Stroud; and siblings, Phyllis Newlin and LaVern Newlin, preceded him in death.
Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Friday, April 15, at Mitchell Cemetery with Clarence Brown officiating. Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. till 2:45 p.m. Friday at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center.

Lottie May Stotts-Acton – Bedford
January 19, 1933 – April 11, 2016
Lottie May Stotts-Acton, 83, of Bedford, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2016, at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born January 19, 1936, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Edgar and Addie (Wagner) Stotts. She married Henry Acton on May 13, 1956; and he preceded her in death in 1991. She was a graduate of Fayetteville High School. She was a homemaker. Lottie was a member of New Union Christian Church.
Survivors include two sons, Henry Acton, of Bedford, and James Acton, of Bloomington; one daughter, Suzanne Acton-VonWalde, of Avoca, two grandchildren Andrew and Chris Easterday; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rose Anne Stotts-Staggs, of Bloomington, and Judy Kay Stotts-Gould, of Michigan; one brother, George Stotts, of Bedford; and several nieces and nephews, including her niece Nichole Welding and her husband Troy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one sister, Jewell Dale.
Funeral service will be on Friday, April 15, 2016, at 1 p.m. at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home. Burial will be in New Union Christian Church. Friends may call on Thursday from 4 p.m. till 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Catherine Winkler – Shoals
Catherine Winkler, 93, of Shoals, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2016, at 7:20 a.m. at the Loogootee Nursing Center.
Catherine was born on February 2, 1923 in Shoals, Indiana to Elmer and Rachel (Crites) Howell. SHe married Lester L. Winkler on October 11, 1969 in Spencer, Indiana and he preceded her in death in 1993.
Catherine graduated from Shoals High School Class of 1941. She retired from RCA Bloomington where she worked on the assembly line for many years. Catherine was a founding and faithful member of the Spencer Wesleyan Church. In later years, upon her return to her hometown, she attended the Shoals Baptist Church.
She is survived by one son, Tex Howell, of Shoals; two daughters, Robin and husband Bradley Secrest, of Bloomfield and Vicki Mills, of Goshen; step-daughter Joyce Thornton, of Spencer; five grandchildren, Cassie Axsom, Nick Howell, Cole Howell, Andrea Nine and Carly Secrest; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Lydia Bruan, of Shoals and Dorothy Grove, of Bloomington and one brother Richard T. Howell, of Shoals.
She is preceded in death by her husband Lester T. Winkler, partents Elmer and Rachell Howell, three brothers, Gordon Howell, Roy Howell and Ellis Howell, sister Alma in infancy, step-son Ted Winkler and step-granddaughter Robin Curry.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. till 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at the Queen Lee Funeral Home in Shoals. Funeral services will be on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

JoAnn Erwin, 90, Mitchell, passed away Tuesday morning, April 12, 2016, at Floyd Memorial Hospital and Health Services in New Albany.
Born September 27, 1925, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of John and Opal (Huber) Vest. She married Ralph E. Erwin August 3, 1947, and he preceded her in death December 18, 2010. JoAnn was a member of the First Baptist Church. She had been a teacher aide at Burris School and previously was employed at Reliance Manufacturing. JoAnn graduated from Orleans High School in 1943 and was a member of the Spring Mill Stitchers.
Surviviors include her son, Eric R. (Lynn) Erwin, New Albany; daughter, Jeanie (J.D.) Woods, Warsaw; grandchildren, Patrick Woods, Warsaw, Mindy Woods, Warsaw, Robert Erwin, Indianapolis, Erin Neel, Louisville, Kentucky, Kyle Erwin, New Albany, sisters, Martha Ellis, Bloomington, Mary Lou Capshaw, Spencer
Her parents and husband preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 15, in the First Baptist Church with Reverend Reggie Clark officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and from 10:00 a.m. until the service on Friday at the church.
