Surrounded by her family, Jerrie Ruth Ramey, 91, of Mitchell, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, March 3, 2016, at Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital.
Born November 28, 1924, in Ashland, Kentucky, she was the daughter of James Gratt and Bertha Nadine (Cooksey) Crockett. She married Walter W. Ramey April 29, 1983, and he preceded her in death in 1995. Jerrie lived a long rewarding life in her 91 years making many friends along the way. For the past ten years, she had resided at White River Lodge. She enjoyed spending time with her family there watching UK basketball games and playing bingo. When her life-long friend, Dorothy Daugherty, became a resident of the Lodge, the two were inseparable and she gained two additional daughters in Juanita and Rose. Jerrie took great pleasure in always sharing stories about all her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughters, Bev (Bill) Kimble of Bedford, Kathy (Jerry) Nelson of Tomah, Wisconsin; sons, Mike (Rita) Ramey of Bloomington, Mark Ramey of Indianapolis, David Ramey of Mitchell, “Sweet Sister,” Jean Pruitt of Lexington, Kentucky; 9 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; 2 great great grandchildren on the way; several nieces and nephews
Her parents; husband; daughters, Sharon (Scott) Guthrie and Nadine Underwood; niece; nephew; and two great grandchildren, preceded her in death.
We would like to thank all the White River Lodge staff who have taken great care of our mom/Grammie for the past ten years and the Indiana University Health nurses and staff who made her last few days comfortable. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 5, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Reverend Kenny Waldon officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Ethel Blake – Bedford
Ethel Blake, 78, of Bedford, died at 4:03 pm, on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Garden Villa.
Arrangements are pending at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
