Edward Horner – Bedford
November 5, 1921 – February 25, 2016
Edward Horner, 94, of Bedford, passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Garden Villa, Bedford.
Born November 5, 1921 in Lawrence County, Indiana, he was the son of George and Fastie (Wilcox) Horner.
He married Katherine Crawford on February 26, 1945; and she survives. He was a member of Pinhook Christian Church. He was an avid coon hunter, fisherman, and mushroom and ginseng hunter. Edward was a World War II Veteran where he served in the Army Air Corps. While stationed in Galapagos Island, he cooked dinner for Eleanor Roosevelt.
Surviving are his wife of 71 years, Katherine; two daughters, Linda (Phil) New, of Bedford, and Marsha (Jack) Silvers, of Bedford; one son, Brian (Tammy) Horner, of Paris Crossing; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Michael and John Horner; two sisters; one brother; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, with Kenny Dalton officiating. Burial will be in Pinhook Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded at the graveside by members of the American Legion Gillen Post #33, Bedford. Friends may call on Monday, 4 pm.till 8 p.m.. at the funeral home.

Stacey Amel Kern – Mitchell
Stacey Amel Kern, 45, of Mitchell, passed away at 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2016, in Freedom.
Born May 4, 1970, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Amel K. and Candace Kay (Doub) Kern. Stacey had been employed ten years as a lineman in Michigan, and was a 1988 graduate of Mitchell High School.
Survivors include his daughter, Stacia Kern, Bedford; grandson, Kaysin Kern; father, Amel Kern, Williams; brother, Cory Kern, Mitchell; grandmother, Maxine “Mickey” Doub, Mitchell
His mother (August 1, 2008); and grandparents, Jack Doub and Kenneth and Maeda Kern, preceded him in death.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. 4 p.m. Sunday, February 28, at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Cremation was chosen and a graveside service will be at a later date in Bryantsville Cemetery.
