Robert Wood Jr. – Mitchell

Robert Wood, Jr., 91, of Mitchell, passed away at 2:23 a.m. Tuesday, January 13, at Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital.
Born December 1, 1923, in Mitchell, he was the son of Robert Bruce and Edna (Clouse) Wood, Sr. He married Elizabeth Maxine Terry April 5, 1943, and she preceded him in death March 6, 2014. He worked at Commercial Motor Freight and retired from Smith Transfer in Louisville, Kentucky. Bob was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of American Legion Post No. 250.
Survivors include his sons, Keith (Brenda) Wood, Mitchell, Kenny Wood, Mitchell; daughter, Terry (Rick) Naftzger, Bloomington; grandchildren, Monique (Bobby) East, Spencer, Luke (Emily) Naftzger, Greenwood,Tisha (Randy) Hitchcox, Bloomington, Judy (Ricky) Schrock, Orleans, Aaron (Carly) Wood, Iowa; step grandchildren, Ricky Naftzger, Bloomington, Annette (Chris) Roberts, Camby; great grandchildren, Hannah Hitchcox, Dylan Dumond, James East, Julia East, Madelyn Hitchcox, Lee Schock, Payton and Kieran Naftzger; step great grandchildren, Curran, Madisyn, and Amelia Roberts; sister, Betty Speck, Mitchell
His parents; wife; and son, Lonnie Dow Wood; and siblings, Kenny Wood, Glen Wood, Harold Wood, Chester Wood, Lowell Wood, and Mildred Baker, preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 16, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Brother Allen Burris officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery with military honors accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107. Friends may call from 4 p.m. till 7 p.m. on Thursday and from 9:30 a.m. until the service on Friday at the funeral home.

Sylvia Suette Crane – Bedford
Sylvia Suette Crane, 49, of Oolitic passed away on Sunday January 11, 2015 at 3:27 p.m. at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born in Bedford on November 5, 1965 to Robert (Bob) Crane and Connie (Browning) Crane.
She was preceded in death by her father, Bob Crane and her grandparents, Charles and Goldie Browning and Clifford and Pearl Boofer all of East Oolitic, one great nephew
Survivors include her mother, Connie Crane, three daughters, Seanna Gonzales, Selena Gonzales and Maria Orozco; grandson, Lennox Major Alexander Gonzales; brothers, Robert “Bob” Crane, Jr., Rudie B. Crane, and Rodney B. Crane and their wives. She is also survived by five nieces, four nephews, three great nieces, six great nephews, several cousins.
Sylvia enjoyed spending time with family and friends, she will missed by all.
Memorial service will be Friday January 16, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the East Oolitic Community Church, with Millard Jones officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. service time at the church on Friday.

James Joseph Green – Mitchell
James Joseph Green, 78, passed away at 12:05 a.m. Monday, January 12, 2015, at his residence.
Born December 16, 1936, in Lawrenceport, he was the son of Leon and Rubie (Ray) Green. He married Shirley Jane Mattox July 24, 1959. He had been employed at Indiana University Health Bedford and was the former owner of Green’s Drive-In. He graduated from Mitchell High School in 1955 and was a member of the Bride of Christ Fellowship and Mitchell Masonic Lodge No. 228 F&AM. James was a beloved husband and father.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Green, Mitchell; daughters, Shelley Ducker, Mitchell, Sherry (Michael) Williams, Orleans, Shawna (Marshall) McDonald, Mitchell; grandchildren, Jared Ducker, Matthew Ducker, Jacob Williams, Jessica Hammack, Jonathon Williams, Joseph Williams, Jennifer Willis, Jacob Willis, Lindsey McDonald; great granddaughter, Gabriella Wolcott; sisters, Peggy (Joe) Bundy, Salem, Sheila Flinn, Bedford
His parents; son, James Anthony “Tony” Green; and brother, Tom Green, preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, at the Bride of Christ Fellowship with Brother Jerry Allen officiating. Burial will be in Lawrenceport Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center and from 11:00 a.m. until the service on Wednesday at the church.

Ruth Edwards – Bedford

Ruth Edwards, 92, formerly of Huron, passed away at 11:45 p.m. Sunday, January 11, 2015, at Garden Villa in Bedford.
Born November 18, 1922, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Loranzo Dow and Alsadie (Bridges) Stevens. She married Dorsey Edwards April 27, 1940, and he preceded her in death April 19, 1986. Ruth was a homemaker and had been employed at Trav-Ler Radio Corporation, RCA, and retired in 1995 from Stone City Products. She graduated from Huron High School in 1940 with 12 years of perfect attendance. Ruth was a member of the Huron Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son, Dorsey (Janet) Edwards, Jr., Norman; daughter, Judith Ann (James E.) King, Mitchell; grandchildren, Kimberly Ann (Doug)Whitted, Norman, James Dale (Marcella) Edwards, Heltonville, Kevin James (Cindy) King, Mitchell, John Edward King, Mitchell; 6 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Margaret Stevens, Indianapolis; several nieces, nephews, and cousins
Her parents; husband; daughters, Janice and Janet; son, David; brothers, Lowell, Bill, Paul, Loranzo Dow, Jr., Joseph, Frank, Morlin, Emery, and Ray Stevens; and sister, Marie Eagan, preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 15, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Burial will be in Liberty Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:30 a.m. until the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
