Donald E. Sanders – Mitchell
Donald E. Sanders, 91, of Mitchell, passed away at 3:35 a.m. Thursday, January 8, 2015, at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehabilitation Center.
Born October 30, 1923, in Mitchell, he was the son of William Henry and Hazel (Isom) Sanders. He married Sherry Louise Scoville June 20, 1954, and she preceded him in death May 20, 2006.
He retired from General Electric and had also been employed at Roberts Brass and General Motors. Don was a World War II veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps. and was the body guard of Rear Admiral Jerauld Wright. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 250, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107, the First Baptist Church, and Mitchell Masonic Lodge No. 228 F&AM.
Survivors include his son, Brett D. Sanders, Mitchell; two granddaughters; brother, William (Dorothy) Sanders, Paoli
His parents; wife; and sisters, Roberta Lynton, Olivia Anderson, Eunice Slosher, and Mary Fisher, preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 11, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Rev. Dwight Dunbar officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery with military honors accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107. Friends may call from noon until the service on Sunday at the funeral home.

Kermit P. Walker – Mitchell
Kermit P. Walker, 95, of Mitchell, passed away at 2:10 p.m. Tuesday, January 6, 2015, surrounded by family at his home.
Born October 21, 1919, in Mitchell, he was the son of John and Blanche (Dalton) Walker. He married Velma M. Barnes December 20, 1942, and she preceded him in death December 12, 2009.
He served honorably in the 9th Air Force of the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a 70 year member of American Legion Post No. 250 and a past member of the Mitchell Lions Club.
Kermit was proud of his contributions to the town of Mitchell which included construction and design for the Carpenter Body Works building, Tri Kappa building, Lehigh, and the former Roberts Brass Company to name a few. He developed the Walker Addition and the former JayC shopping center.
Survivors include his children Gary Walker, Bedford, Diane Dixon, Mitchell; grandchildren, Andrea Rose, Ryan French, Shelly Abel, Stephaney Washington; 7 great grandchildren; brothers, Bill Walker, Grand Junction, Colorado
Don Walker, Daytona Beach, Florida
His parents; wife; and daughter, Vicky S. Kinney; preceded him in death.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, January 9, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Lee Hupp officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery with military honors accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107. The family will receive friends from Noon until the service on Friday at the funeral home.

Carol Ann Scott – Bedford
Carol Ann Scott 79, of Bedford, died Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at her residence.
Born May 27, 1935 in Paoli, she was the daughter of Lotus R. Vest and Helen Margaret (Maris) Jones. She married William Scott on January 19, 1957 and he preceded her in death on September 25, 2013. She had worked at Bedford Regional Medical Center and formerly as a school crossing guard. She attended the First Baptist Church and was a member of AARP.
Survivors include three daughters, Sharon Holbrook, Patricia A. Holmes and husband, Wayne, all of Bedford and Sandi Leigh Smoot and husband, Tony, of Bedford; one son, William Bradley Scott and wife, Melinda of Bedford; fifteen grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; one brother, Jeffrey Lee Jones of Paoli; two nieces; a nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father, William R. Jones; her husband, a daughter, Marsha Lynn Moore; a brother, Dale M. Vest; a granddaughter, Jami Moore Fleenor and a son-in-law, Earl Holbrook.
Funeral services will be conducted at Noon on Saturday, January 10th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Dr. Kregg Burris officiating. Entombment will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 10 am until the hour of service on Saturday, January 10th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Assoc.
