Joyce Lynn “Joy” Slaughter – Springville
Joyce Lynn “Joy” Slaughter, 64, of Springville passed away at 1:50 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2014, at Indiana University Health Hospice House in Bloomington.
Born September 1, 1949, in Anderson, Indiana, she was the daughter of Edward Vernon and Violet Lorraine (Wynn) Slaughter. She was a homemaker and a member of Springville Trinity Pentecostal Mission Church. Joyce graduated from Mitchell High School in 1968.
Survivors include sons, Lt. Col. Timothy James Atkins, Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, Teddy Edward Atkins, Bedford; siblings, John Edward Slaughter, Mitchell, Jane Emily Brewer, Springville; granddaughters, Alexis Lynn Atkins, Samantha Joy Atkins
Her parents and brother, Jeffrey Lee Slaughter, preceded her in death.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, at Talbott Cemetery with Rev. Wendell Phillips officiating.

Phyllis F. Golden – Mitchell
Phyllis F. Golden, 83, of Mitchell, died at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at Garden Villa, Bedford.
Born December 13, 1930, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Robert E. Asbury and Ina (Snow) Asbury. She married Robert Lewis Golden on July 7, 1950 and he survives, of Mitchell.
She was a school bus driver for the Mitchell School System; a licensed practical nurse (LPN) having worked at White River Lodge and Bedford Regional Medical Center; and was a supervisor at Stone City Christian Academy, Bedford. She was a graduate of Mitchell High School with the class of 1949 and a lifelong member of Faith Mission Church, Bedford.
Surviving are her husband, Robert Lewis Golden , Mitchell; three sons, John Steven (Julia) Golden, Leavenworth, KS; Philip (Roxann) Golden and Timothy (Alice) Golden, both of Mitchell; four daughters, Jennifer (Scott) Hiles and Robbi (Jack) Blanton, both of Bedford and Joetta (Terry) Osborne and Leann (Dale) Belcher, both of Mitchell; 19 Grandchildren; 26 Great Grandchildren; two sisters, Juanita (Roger) Terry, Bedford and Ruth (Lawrence) Willoughby, Silver Springs, MD; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Ruby White.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2014, at Faith Mission Church, Bedford, with Bro. Steve Hight officiating. Burial will be in Knott Cemetery, Saturday.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, at the church.
Memorial contributions may be considered to ALS, Indiana Chapter Lou Gherig’s Disease.
