James A. Mattix – Bedford
James A. Mattix, 71, of Bedford, passed away at 10:21 a.m. on Friday March 14, 2014 at Stonebridge Health Campus in Bedford.
He was born in Lawrence Co. on June 30, 1942 to Raymond and Lavern Brown Mattix. James married Peggy Ann Hubbard on May 29, 1964 and she preceded him in death on April 12, 2008. He Retired from US Gypsium and was in the United States Army.
Survivors include one son:Jeff Mattix and wife Sherry, of Bloomfield; two daughters Lori Burton and husband Mark, of Bedford and Alysha Mattix and Ben Jones, of Fort Wayne; 4 grandchildren Chastity and Kendall Davis of Bloomington, Sarah Holtsclaw and Samantha Mattix, of Bloomfield; 6 great grandchildren Luke and Hailey Terrell, Emma and Ava Holtsclaw Gabriel and Addie Davis; four sisters Rita Williams and Dave, of Mitchell, Mary Lou Powell and Mike, of Paoli, Becky Curtis of Bloomington, Alta Smith of Indianapolis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one brother Robert Mattix
Funeral services will be at Cresthaven Funeral Home on Tuesday March
18th, 2014 at 11 am friends may call from 10 p.m. till the time of service. Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Cresthaven Funeral Home on Monday, March 17 , 2014. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens with military honors at the grave site.
