Jane Elizabeth Gillespie – Mitchell
Jane Elizabeth Gillespie, 35, of Mitchell, died at 8:05 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, in Bedford.
Born, October 30, 1978 in Erie, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Primitivo Martin Sanchez and Charlotte Elizabeth (Carpenter) Eagley. She married Shannon Gillespie on May 18, 2002; and he survives.She was a pharmacist with Kmart Pharmacy in Bedford, IN. She was a graduate of Ball State University, and received her Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from Purdue University in 2006. She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Bedford, IN.
Surviving are her husband, Shannon Gillespie of Mitchell; two children, Elizabeth and Gus Gillespie; mother, Charlotte Eagley of Mitchell; two uncles, Reverend Charles Carpenter of Mitchell, and Tom Eagley of Milwaukee, WI; two cousins, Jason and Steven Eagley; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lewis and Kay Gillespie of Muncie; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Brennan and Ashley Gillespie of Muncie; two nephews, Graham and Collin Gillespie of Muncie.
She was preceded in death by her adoptive father, Primitivo Martin Sanchez; and her natural father, Howard Earl Eagley, Jr.
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Bedford, with Reverend Don Jones officiating. There will be a private, family burial in Mitchell Cemetery.
Friends may call on Friday, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home in Bedford. Memorial contributions may be considered to a charity of donor’s choice.

Joy Evelyn Hammel – Springville
Joy Evelyn Hammel, 84, of Springville, died at 11:10 pm on Monday, March 3, 2014 at I.U. Health Hospice
House in Bloomington.
Born February 22, 1930 in Elkmont, AL, she was the daughter of Thomas Edward and Gracie (Clark) Dungy. She married Dr. Howard Hammel in 1967 and he preceded her in death in 1978. She retired as a registered nurse having worked at Norton’s Hospital, Jewish Hospital and General Hospital all in Louisville, KY. In 1983, she was instrumental in developing the first home hospice program at Bedford Regional Medical Center in Bedford. She later worked in the Tucker Nursing Home in Tucker, GA before retiring to Woodbridge, VA in 1997 and finally returning to Bedford in 2001.
Survivors include her son, Rand W. Hammel of Springville; two step-sons, Stephen Hammel and wife, Joyce of Mitchell and Michael David Hammel of Bedford; a step-daughter, Emily, of CA; two half-sisters, Bethany Dungy and Patsy Atkins both of TN; five half-brothers, Jesse Edward, Gary, Wendall, Dennis and Joey Dungy all of TN; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four sisters, Ruth Atwell, Emma Camuse, Elizabeth Robertson, Margaret Mathews; step-son, Thomas Howard Hammel.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm on Friday, March 7th, in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Richard Tallman officiating. Cremation will follow with burial at a later date in Lowder Cemetery in Springville. Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, March 6th at Day & Carter Mortuary.

William S. Kirkman – Bedford
William S. Kirkman, 91, of Bedford, died Tuesday, March 4th at I.U. Health Bedford Hospital. Arrangements are pending at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
Roy Lee Hackett – Bloomington
Roy Lee Hackett, 64, of Bloomington, died at 5:45 am on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born December 23, 1949 in Chicago, IL, he was the son of Phillip and Sallie (Sledge) Hackett. He married Chrystal Lewis on November 13, 2013 and she survives. He was a retired veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Ham Radio Operators and the Second Baptist Church in Bloomington.
Survivors include his wife, Chrystal, of Bloomington; two daughters, Jasalyann George and Heather Rhodes both of Pennsylvania; two sons, Robert Hackett of Illinois and Andrew Hackett of Pennsylvania; two step-sons, Corey Prouse and Caleb Luna both of Bloomington; a step-daughter, C’Sandra Greer of Bloomington; four
grandchildren; two nieces, Janice Nickeo and Johanna DePalma; five nephews, Michael, Phillip, Kym and Mark
Hackett and Tracy Gist; several great nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jimmy Hackett; a sister, Bertha Sterling; a niece, Renee Hackett and a nephew, Jimmy Hackett, Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm on Friday, March 7th at Dive Christian Church with Pastor Bruce Rose officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion and D.A.V. Chapter 2. Visitation will be from 10 am until the hour of service on Friday, March 7th at the Dive Christian Church.
The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to Chrystal Hackett or Bertha’s Mission to defray expenses.

Richard A. Baugh, 82, of Bedford, died at 9:33 pm on Tuesday, March 4th at I.U. Bloomington Hospice House. Arrangements are pending at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
Crystal J. Sullivan – Bedford
Crystal J. Sullivan, 37, of Bedford, died at 4:38 pm on Monday, March 3, 2014 at I.U. Health Bedford Hospital.
Born September 27, 1976 in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Marty and Kathy (Terrell) Eagans. She married Jody Sullivan on June 4, 1994 and he survives. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband Jody, of Bedford; children Katelyn, Brentlee, Michael, Joseph; her father Marty; a brother Brent Eagans and wife Crystal; nieces, Nyschelle, Kaylyn, Madolyn and Seanna Eagans; nephews Brady, Owen and Austin Sullivan.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Kathy; a brother, Stevie Eagans; her maternal grandparents; her paternal grandparents; three uncles, Larry Eagans, Dave Brown and Mike Terrell; two aunts, Knoxie Brown and Rosetta Terrell.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am on Monday, March 10th in the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with Bro. Alan Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Patton Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm on Sunday, March 9th at Day & Carter Mortuary.

Robert W. Esboldt – Mitchell
Robert W. Esboldt, 62 of Mitchell, passed away at 5:30 a.m. on Monday. March 3, 2014 at his residence.
He was born on March 28, 1951 in Gary, Indiana to Emmett and Celia L. (Snell) Esboldt; he was a graduate of Lake Central High School in Lake County. Robert retired from Bethlehem Steel in 2001 and recently from Wal-mart in 2013. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mitchell.
Robert first married Sharon Esboldt on September 9, 1972 and she preceded him in death on February 2, 2005, Robert then married Sue (Hounshell) Sprinkle on October 12, 2013 at the Orleans Christian Church and she survives.
Survivors include his wife; Sue Esboldt of Mitchell, one son Rob (Don Wheatcraft) Esboldt, of Bedford; two step daughters: Kathy (Brian) Thompson, of Orleans and Melissa (Ryan) Livingston, of Orleans; one brother Bernie (Liz) Esbold,t of Mitchell; niece Karen Esboldt and nephew Martin Mitchell; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Sharon Esboldt.
Funeral Services will be on Friday March 7, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Cresthaven Funeral Home, burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call on Thursday March 6, 2014 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. with rosary service at 7:30 p.m., friends may also call on Friday from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m.at Cresthaven Funeral Home.
In Lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society for Cancer research.
