Nancy Elaine Chastain – Mitchell
Nancy Elaine Chastain, 79, went to be with the Lord at 4:45 p.m. Monday, December 2, 2013, at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehabilitation Center.
Born May 27, 1934, in Tatham Springs, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Clarence and Effie Belle (Terrell) Terrell. She married Reverend Claude Chastain, Jr. July 9, 1953, and he preceded her in death October 4, 2013. Nancy was a homemaker and a member of the Mitchell Church of the Nazarene.
Surviving include son, Don (Debbie) Chastain, Mitchell; daughters, Joyce (Jim) Coulter, Bedford, Linda (Scott) Pendley, Bloomington; grandchildren, Stacy Bartlett, Joshua Chastain, Jonathan Holt, Katie Chastain and Eric Holt; 6 great grandchildren; brother, Hubert Terrell, Mitchell
Her parents; husband; and siblings, Dorothy Davis, R. C. Terrell, J. B. Terrell, Lucy Terrell, Dalf Terrell, and Barney Terrell, preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, December 6, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Reverend Matt Moore officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. until the service on Friday at the funeral home.
Casketbearers: Josh Chastain, Jonathan Holt, Eric Holt, Lonnie Cauble, Kevin Cauble, and Todd Bartlett.

Penny Lou (Roth) Collins – Bedford
Penny Lou (Roth) Collins, 59, of Bedford, died at 8:32 pm on Monday, December 2, 2013 at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born October 7, 1954 in Lebanon, IN, she was the daughter of Arthur “Blocky” and Laura Elizabeth (Merriott) Roth. She was a cake decorator at JC Plus for over twenty-five years. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed riding horses, reading, playing solitare and loved dogs.
Survivors include three daughters, Laura Riley and Sarah Moore both of Bloomington, Megan Collins of Bedford; a son-in-law, Mathew Moore of Bloomington; four grandchildren, Hadley Elizabeth Brummett, Everly Reigh Wright, Natalie Leighton Moore and Kellan Riley Moore; a sister, Susie Roth-Byers of Lebanon; a brother, Mike Roth of Lebanon; nieces and nephews, Julie Dickerson, Patrick Riley, Chris Riley, Mike Roth II, Maggie Roth, Scott Dickerson, Andy Dickerson and Tony Dickerson; her former husband, Glenn Collins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Bonnie Riley.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 pm on Friday, December 6th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Dean Jackson officiating. Visitation will be from 3 pm until the hour of service on Friday, December 6th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Ronald David Blevens – Bedford
Ronald David Blevens, 67, of Bedford, died at 11:30 am on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at the Hospice House in Bloomington.
Born September 2, 1946 in Bedford, he was the son of Cecil and Evelyn Jane (Thompson) Blevens. He was a graduate of Bedford High School with the class of 1966. Ronnie was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and the Marine Corps serving in Viet Nam and the Mediterranean. He was later employed as a security guard at NWSC Crane and was a painter for Pritchett Bros. Construction.
Survivors include a daughter, Jenny Rich; a son, Jeff Blevens; a brother, Jim Blevens; three sisters, Suzi Todd, Janice Blevens and Tina McKee; two grandchildren, Hayden and Zander Rich; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Evelyn Blevens and a brother, Robert Cecil Blevens.
Ron’s wishes were to be cremated. The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, December 5th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary.
Peggy Jean Rocco – Bedford
Peggy Jean Rocco, 75, of Bedford, lost her courageous battle with cancer at 8:29 pm on Monday, December 2, 2013. She passed from this life at her home, with loving family at her side.
Peggy was born on the 23rd of October, 1938 to William and Mattie Bush of Oolitic. She was the youngest child of the family, precocious and fiercely independent. Peggy left Indiana as a young adult, living briefly in Louisville and then for several years in Houston. At the age of 30 she returned to Indiana where she lived her remaining years.
Peggy worked as a respiratory therapist in the local area for many years. She was retired from Bloomington Hospital, but continued to work in her field until only a few months ago. She most recently worked at Garden Villa in Bedford.
Peggy had a strong calling to help those less fortunate than herself. She loved music, traveling and new experiences of almost any kind. Most of all she loved her family and friends, by whom she will be sorely missed.
Peggy is survived by her brother, William Bush, Jr.; sisters, Matricia Butler and Mary Ellen (Junior) Sowders; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Patty Rocco; granddaughter, Jessy Rocco; great grandsons, Faolan Cook and Soren Gibson; fourteen nieces and nephews; a large extended family and her faithful corgi, Toby.
Peggy was preceded in death by her mother and father; step-mother, Estus Bush; brother, Robert Bush; sisters, Rosemary Jones and Deloris Riley; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Bush and Peg Bush; brothers-in-law, Max Butler, Robin Riley and Warren Jones.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 2 pm on Saturday, December 7th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Visitation will be from noon until the hour of service on Saturday, December 7th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to a local food bank of the donor’s choice.

Phyllis M. Guthrie – Bedford
Phyllis M. Guthrie, 87, of Bedford, passed away at 11:05 p.m. on Monday, December 2, 2013, at Johnson Christian Village. Born March 16, 1926, in Bedford, IN, she was the daughter of Merton and Mona (Swayze) Brock. She married James M. Guthrie on August 25, 1954; he preceded her in death on August 5, 1997.
She was a graduate of Bedford High School, Class of 1944. She was a homemaker. She was a member of New Hope Christian Church. She was an avid sports fan. She has been a season ticket holder of Bedford Basketball since 1940.
Surviving are one son, James Mitch (Judith) Guthrie II, of Bedford; one daughter, Vicki East, of Bedford, one step-son, Tim (Lynn) Guthrie, of Bryan, TX; one brother, Kenneth Brock, of Bedford; six grandchildren, Jennifer (David) Gratzer, Amanda (Jason) Blanton, Katy (Lincoln) Merchant, Jamie Guthrie, Michael (Ashlee) Guthrie, and Kevin East; two step-grandchildren, Scott Guthrie, and Allison (Park) Lacey; four great-grandchildren, Cameron, Madeline, and Benjamin Gratzer, and Harrison Merchant; three step great-grandchildren, Keely Burgess, and Jace and Madison Lacey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Harold Brock, and Gerald “Dick” Brock.
Funeral service will on Friday, December 6, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, with Pastor Doug Martin officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the White River Humane Society or Johnson Christian Village.
