Phyllis Irene Jeskewich – Bedford
Phyllis Irene Jeskewich, 84, of Bedford, died Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at Autumn Hills Residential Facility in Bloomington.
Born November 28, 1928 in Monroe Co., IN, she was the daughter of Chester Lee and Olga Maizie (Chambers) Stillions. She married John Jeskewich in February 1957, and he preceded her in death in 1979. She and her husband, John, owned and operated the Sterling Drug Stores for many years. She also owned the Inn of the Four Winds Gift Shop. She was a member of the Elks Auxiliary, American Legion Gillen Post #33 Auxiliary, Psi Iota Xi Sorority where she was past president, and the Otis Park Ladies Golf Club. She and her husband John, were founding members of the Bedford Supper Club and the Salt Creek Power Squadron. She had volunteered for the Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts.
Survivors include a son, Mike Jeskewich and wife Carla, of Bedford; two daughters, Nancy Arena and husband Mike, of Bedford, Sally Meridith and husband Roger, of Bloomington; five grandchildren, Barry Jeskewich and wife Bridget, of North Carolina, Mandy Arena and Jay Jeskewich, both of Bedford, Sam Arena and wife Azure, of Carmel, Molly Packard and husband Mitch, of Bloomington; four great grandchildren, Cameron, Isabella and Maizie Jeskewich and Aly Jo Arena; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, Katherine (Doyle) Lutes and Betty McGough; two brothers, Chester “Buster” and William Stillions.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 am on Friday, November 15th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Joe Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, November 14th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society.
