She was a graduate of the Mitchell High School class of 1958. She worked as a Rural Mail Carrier for the United States Postal Service where she retired after 22 years of service.
In her spare time she nurtured her love of and talent for art. She was serving as a board member of the Lawrence County Art Association and was a member of the Lawrence Co. Plein Air Painters. She was an award winning artist who showed and sold her art in many local galleries. Any given evening you might find Imogene and Leon driving around the county taking in the beauty of nature. It was not uncommon for her to ask that the car be stopped so that she could capture an image for a future painting. Much of her art reflected the images of the rural landscapes which surrounded her.
Imogene was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and a woman of faith who lived as she believed. She wanted her funeral to be a celebration of life and it was her wish that those attending wear bright colors.
