Lyall Walter Maass Jr. – Paoli
Lyall Walter Maass, Jr., 51 of Paoli, passed away at his niece’s residence Stephanie Shryock and her husband Gerry in Anderson at 3:45 a.m. on Monday September 16, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.
Lyall attended Paoli Jr. Sr. High School in the 1970’s and then went on to join the US Marine Corps. In 1984 he received an associate degree from Ivy Tech in Indianapolis for Heating & Cooling (HVAC). He worked a number of years as a HVAC technician. In 1988 he attended ATA Training Academy in Indianapolis obtaining a second Associates degree in Aircraft Maintenance. Lyall worked a number of years as an aircraft mechanic, he had been currently employed by Ames Aviation in Wilmington, Ohio, and his main hobby was flying remote control aircraft as well as being a military aircraft history buff.
Lyall was preceded in death by his parents, Lyall Walter Maass, Sr. and Margaret Josephine (Green) Maass.
He is survived by his siblings; Lisa Ann Maass and Mary Theresa Maass; his nieces; Stephanie Shryock, Melanie Whited and Jessica Garrett; his great nieces; Madison Westfall, Grace Westfall and Layla Westfall
Funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday September 20, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mitchell, Friends may call on Friday from 10 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m.at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mitchell. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens
Nathan R. Arthur
Nathan R. Arthur, 31, passed away in auto accident in Lawrence County on Saturday September 14, 2013.
He was born in Bedford on December 4, 1981 to Raymond Arthur & Beth (Baker) Zaragoze. He was employed by Umphress Masonary.
Survivors include his mother and step- father; Beth and Darren Zaragoze of Bedford; his father; Raymond Arthur of Bedford; grandfather; William Arthur, Sr.; one brother; Brandon Arthur of Bedford; 3 sons; Harley Allen of Illinois, Christopher Arthur of Michigan, and Anthony Arthur of Greenfield.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Baker; grandmother Nina Arthur; uncle Bill Baker, two cousins; Ryan Baker and James Reeves.
Celebration of Life will be held on Friday September 20, 2013 from Noon until 2 p.m. at Cresthaven Funeral Home in Bedford, with Bro. Matt Sullivan officiating.
Johnny D. Blanton – Mitchell
Johnny D. Blanton, 64, passed into Heaven at 1:51 p.m. Saturday, September 14, 2013, at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis. Born October 21, 1948, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Donavan and Katherine (Turpin) Blanton. He married Twila L. Thomas January 15, 1983.
He was employed at Evans Stone Company and was a 1968 graduate of Mitchell High School. Johnny attended Faith Mission Church in Bedford and was a Red Coat at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed woodworking, and was a bird enthusiast.
Survivors include his wife, Twila Blanton, Mitchell; sons, Scot Blanton and wife Sheila Blanton, Mitchell, Travis Blanton and wife Angie, Bloomington, Jeremy Blanton and wife Amanda, Mitchell; bonus children, Dion and Michael Courtney, Fredricksburg, Sheri Collins, Greenwood, Steven Brown and wife Paula Brown, Salem; grandchildren, Brittany Blanton, Trey Blanton, Taylor Blanton, Katie Blanton, Cooper Blanton, Leo Blanton; bonus grandchildren, Casey Sanders, Elizabeth Curtsinger, Joshua Strange, Aaron Collins, Diamond Brown; brother, Jackie Blanton and wife Robbi, Bedford; sisters, Jewwana Carrico, Mitchell, Julie and husband Brian Darnell, Heltonville
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Lex Blanton.
Funeral service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 18, at the Faith Mission Church with Rev. Steve Stetler officiating. Friends may call from 3 p.m. until the service on Wednesday at the church. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, in Mitchell Cemetery.
