E. Viola New – Bedford
E. Viola New, 90, of Bedford, died at 1:00 pm on Monday, September 9, 2013 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Arrangements are pending at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
Harley L. Bratton – Trinity Springs
Harley L. Bratton, 83, of Trinity Springs, passed away on September 8, 2013 at 10:13 a.m. at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Indian Springs, Indiana, on February 16, 1930 to Elakonah and Mabel Bratton. He married Barbara Crane on February 11, 1955 at the Trinity Springs Christian Church.
Harley attended Martin County Schools and was a Veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean War. He began his work career by helping to build the United States Gypsum Plant and after the plant was built he went to work for USG. He then went to work at Crane Army Ammunition Activity where he retired in 1978 as an explosive handler. Following his retirement he was night watchmen for the Shoals Community School Corporation for 10 years. Harley loved to rebuild motors, especially lawnmowers and anything he could get to run. He was very instrumental in opening the Mustering Elm Park in Trinity Springs.
Harley was a member of the White River Masonic Lodge 332 F & AM, Sons of American Revolution and lifetime member of the Shoals American Legion Post 61.
He is deeply loved and missed by his family including wife Barbara, of Trinity Springs; daughter Carolyn Darlene and husband Jack Savage, of Bargersville; four sons, Larry Joe and wife Sandy Bratton, of Dover Hill, Tarry Lee and wife Debbie Bartton, of Loogootee Norman Eugene and wife Christiana Bratton, of Loogootee, Robert Lucien and Pamela Bratton, of Shoals; grandchildren, Melissa Dawn Bennett, Benjamin Mundy, Nicole Spears, Erica Bratton, Kenady Bratton; six great-grandchildren, two sisters, Jane and Dennis Holt of Henryville and Margaret Bailey, of Indianapolis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Joe, John, Frank, Lucien Bratton and three sisters, Flossie Geraldine, Mary Susan Rehl and Pauline Bratton.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Queen-Lee Funeral Home and the funeral will be on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Larry Downs will officiate the service. The White River Masonic Lodge 332 will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in the Trinity Springs Cemetery. Shoals American Legion Post 61 will accord military graveside rites.

David Anthony Verbocht – Cloverdale
David Anthony Verbocht, 23, of Cloverdale, formerly of Bedford, died at 9:47 am on Sunday,
Born March 9, 1990 in Kalamazoo, MI, he was the son of Jacobus (Jack) Verbocht and Rita (Maddox) VerbochtWaltz. He was a graduate of Bedford North Lawrence High School with the class of 2008. He had attended I.U. and Ivy Tech. He was employed at Cloverdale Building Supplies and enjoyed fishing, hiking, fitness and working out. David loved spending time with his family and friends. His warm spirit touched so many lives.
Survivors include his mother and father, Rita and Jason Waltz of Bedford; two brothers, Robert “Bob” Verbocht of Indianapolis and Andrew Verbocht of Bedford; grandparents, Bob and Patti Lewis of Bloomington; grandmother, Loretta Maddox of Bedford; aunts, Diana Thomas and husband, Ron, Pam Cobb, Teresa Hutchinson and husband, Kevin, Sheila Decker and husband, Bill; and uncle, Dennis Maddox and wife, Donna; cousins, John, Carol, Denise, Angela, Brian, Brent, Jason, Trevis, Doug, Lucas, Kevin M., Aaron, Adam, Brandon and Will; several second cousins, extended family, family in the Netherlands and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jack; grandfather, Gene Maddox; grandparents, Cornelius and Jacoba Verbocht and an uncle, Huub Matthijssen.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm on Thursday, September 12 at the Valley Mission Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Duane Boady officiating. Burial will follow in Hanson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday, September 11 atValley Mission Church of the Nazarene.

Floyd E. Neely Jr. – Bedford
Floyd E. Neely Jr., 82, of Bedford, died at 3:51 a.m. on Sunday, September 8, 2013 at Stonebridge Health Campus.
Born July 11, 1931 in Springville, IN, he was the son of Floyd and Mary (Colvin) Neely. He married Donna (Reynolds) Neely on February 17, 1950; she passed away December 5, 2001.He was a retired metal spinner and was a member of the Living Word Church. Floyd was a graduate of Oolitic High School.
He is survived by two sons, Rick W. (Marita)Neely of Nicholson, Georgia, Steven L. (Teresa) Neely of Orleans, Indiana; a daughter, Debra (Nick) Brandis of Commerce, Georgia; three sisters, Martha May Walters, Mary Ellen Boling and Patricia Earhart; long term companion, Anna Parker; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
A graveside service will be Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Springville West Cemetery with Cam Anderson officiating.

Patrick W. Terry – Bedford
Patrick W. Terry, 44, of Bedford, died Saturday, September 7, 2013 at his residence.
Born November 25, 1968 in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Roy L and Rosalie (Harris) Terry. He was an assembler at General Electric. He was a gifted musician and drummer for the band, Dames Rocket. He was an artist, cartoonist and animal lover, especially his cats, Momma Cat and Junior.
Survivors include his parents of Bedford; a sister, Melissa Kalber and husband, George of Bedford; two brothers, David Terry and wife, Christy, John Terry and wife, Jodi all of Bedford; two nephews, Tyler Kalber and wife, Kendra of Owensburg and Alex Kalber of Bedford; three nieces, Katie, Caroline and Brooke Terry all of Bedford; one great nephew, Kyten Kalber; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ralph and Doris Harris; paternal grandparents, Lavere and Mabel Terry.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 am on Thursday, September 12th at the Day and Carter Mortuary with Pastor Ken Ransom officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday, September 11th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Kenneth Wayne Mundy – Bedford
Kenneth Wayne Mundy, 59, passed away at 10:12 a.m. Sunday, September 8, 2013, at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital in Bedford.
Born November 20, 1953, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Kenneth and Bertha (Tolbert) Mundy.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. Kenneth was a member of the Bedford Boat and Sportman Club, and Order of the Eagles 654.
Survivors include his father Kenneth Mundy, Bedford; mother Bertha Buckley, Bedford; sister Lorna Jo Jenkins, Bedford.
Cremation was chosen and there will be no visitation of service at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
