John R. Brown Jr. – Bedford

John R. Brown Jr., 91, of Bedford, passed away at 11:25 a.m. on Sunday, August 25, 2013, in Bedford.
Born June 17, 1922 in Sullivan, IN, he was the son of John R. Brown Sr. and Mary M. (Hayden) Brown.
He married Linda L. (Stewart) Brown on February 12, 1972; and she survives.
He was a graduate of Switz City High School. He was a Veteran of World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corps, where he served with the 341 Bomber Group during the China Offensive Campaign. He is also a retired mail carrier.
Surviving are his wife, Linda of Bedford; one daughter, Judith Wright of Switz City, IN; two sons, John Roy Brown and wife Kay of Fairborne, OH; and Jerry R. Brown and wife Linda of Red Oak, TX; two step sons, Mark W. Ingle and wife Peggy of Springville, IN; and Jeffrey P. Ingle and wife Barbara of Bedford; one stepdaughter, Lori A. Cleveland of Jeffersonville, IN; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and one brother, Robert Brown and wife Wanda of Switz City, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one son William Kyle Brown.
A graveside service will be conducted on Thursday, August 29, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Switz City Cemetery with Pastor Russell Burnette officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home.

Alice Mae (Bennett) Armstrong – Burke, VA
Alice Mae (Bennett) Armstrong passed away on Friday at the age of 82.
Alice was born to Rex and Lucy Bennett of Oolitic, graduated from Oolitic High School in 1949, studied nursing at Ball State and married Jack H. Armstrong of Springville in 1953. They celebrated their 60 wedding anniversary in June. Alice was proud of her large family. Alice lived most of her life in the Washington, DC suburb of Burke, Virginia and was particularly fond of her time in Stuttgart, Germany and Berkeley, California.
She is survived by her husband, Jack; her sister, Vivian Binkley of Hendersonville, NC; brother, Mick Bennett of Bedford; four children and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Nina Spears, Gayle Comboy, Mary Wohlfeld, Dorothy Hayes, Bud Bennett and Wayne Bennett.
Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday, August 28th at the Day Carter Mortuary. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 29 in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery.
