William W.Chapman, Jr. – Bedford
William W. Chapman, Jr., 74, of Bedford, passed away at his home at 12:45 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2013.
Born on December 21, 1938 in Bedford, IN, he was the son of William Wayne and Esther (Woodward) Chapman. He married Portia Allen on June 21, 1959, and she survives.
He was a graduate of Shawswick High School with the Class of 1957; he was affiliated with the Seventh Day Adventist Church; he was a steel engineer/fabricator with Standish Steel, retiring in 2000. He was an avid race car builder and mechanic. He was a hot rod builder and loved NASCAR and Indiana University Basketball.
Surviving are his wife, Portia Chapman of Bedford; two sons, Dusty Chapman and wife Jamie, Bedford and Cully Chapman, Ohio; two daughters, Misty and husband Robert Cummings, Oolitic and Wendy and husband Harold Keller, Bedford; four grandchildren, Byron Shelton, Anna Cummings, Abby Keller and Brandon Keller; two great grandchildren, Taylor and Colton Shelton-Vincent; and one great great grandchild, Raylan Vincent; and one sister, Vivian Pace, Bedford.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one grandchild, Misti Fitzgerald.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, Bedford, with Pastor Stephen DeLong officiating. Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
