The following obituaries were received for Monday –


Dorothy M. Smitha – Bedford
Dorothy M. Smitha, 91, of Bedford, passed peacefully Saturday, with her family by her side, at Bliss House.
Born December 20, 1921, in Ohio, she was the daughter of Roy A. and Hazel Patterson. She married Gilbert Smitha on July 21, 1942 and he preceded her in death in 1982. Dorothy was a homemaker, mother, grandmother and volunteer during her lifetime. She enjoyed sewing, sailing, was a Girl Scout leader, Methodist Youth Fellowship sponsor and volunteered at the Brownsburg Police Dept. for 20 years before moving to Bedford in 2005. She was a member of Calvary Methodist Church in Brownsburg, for 50 years until moving to Bedford and changing her membership to First Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter Carol and husband Barry Strong, of Bedford; two sons, Bob Smitha and wife Sandra, of Golden Valley, AZ and Don Smitha and wife Susie, of Jacksonville, FL; seven grandchildren, Julie and husband Aaron Pritchett, of Bedford; Lt. Cmdrs. Amy and husband John Bleidorn, of Longbeach, MS; Jennifer Anderson, of TX; Lisa Zeller and Evan Smitha and wife Bridgett, of Tallahassee, FL; and Abby Smitha and Erin and husband Ben Lamblez, Jacksonville, FL; nine great grandchildren; four nieces and nephews; one brother, Roy Lee Patterson and wife Reulah, of Pittsboro, IN; and sister-in-law, Janet Meyer, of Speedway, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a sister, Betty, who died in infancy.
A Celebration of Dorothy’s life will be on Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. Kregg Burris officiating. Entombment will be in North Washington Park Cemetery in Indianapolis. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the celebration at the funeral home.
The family suggests gifts in memory of Dorothy M. Smitha be made to VistaCare Hospice, 391 Quartermaster Court, Jeffersonville, IN 47130.
