Roger Neely – Bedford
Roger Neely, 73, passed away at 6:18 pm on Monday, January 21, 2013 at White River Lodge. Arrangements are pending at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
Carroll W. “Butch” Shields – Mitchell
Carroll W. “Butch” Shields, 69, of Mitchell, passed away at 9 a.m. Monday, January 21, 2013, at IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington.
Born May 27, 1943, in Oklahoma, he was the son of Clovis and Mary (Leavens) Shields. Butch was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include sister, Wanda Brinkerhoff and husband Stephen, of Plainfield; nieces and nephews, Trishawana Shields-Stanten , Ricky Shields, Ryan Shields, Stephanie Brinkerhoff, Zachary Brinkerhoff
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard Shields.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, January 24, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Rick Eldred officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesday at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Rosary service will be at 7 p.m.

Myrlen W. Hunter – Mitchell
Myrlen W. Hunter, 81, passed away at 9:30 a.m. Monday, January 21, 2013, at White River Lodge in Bedford.
Born September 4, 1931, in Washington, Indiana, he was the son of M. Victor and Lucille (Jones) Hunter. He married Sherlia A. Mundy August 14, 1952.
Myrlen graduated from Mitchell High School in 1949, and after serving in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War, he enrolled in Purdue University and graduated in 1958 with a degree in pharmacy. He owned Burton City Drug Store in Mitchell for several years. He served as treasurer of the Persimmon Festival and the Mitchell Chamber of Commerce for 18 years and was also a director of the Bedford Regional Medical Center, served on the boards of the Marion Township Fire Department, Mitchell High School Alumni Association, Mitchell Public Library, and Hoosier Uplands. He was a member of the First Christian Church, County, State, and National Pharmacy Associations, American Legion Post No. 250, and a Life Member of Purdue University Alumni.
Surviviors include, wife, Sherlia Hunter, of Mitchell; daughters, Denise Doyle, of Mitchell, D’Andra (Dee Dee) Stone, of Mitchell; Beverly Hunter, of San Diego, California; grandchildren, Joe and Jarrod Terrell, Jamie Doyle, Matthew and Courtney Stone; great grandchildren, Lenita Terrell, Chloe Doyle, Abrianna, Malachi, and Thierry Terrell; brother, Don Hunter and wife Jerri, of Indianapolis; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; great granddaughter, Alexa Karri Doyle; son-in-law, Jim Doyle; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joe and Vida Mundy; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joe B. and Josephine Mundy.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, January 26, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Bro. Mike Collins officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery with military honors accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107. Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. until the service on Friday at the funeral home.
Honorary Casketbearers: Gene Mundy, Russell Beasley, Henry Clouse, Steve Anderson, Ralph Anderson, David Miller, and Michael Robbins. Casketbearers: Joe Terrell, Jarrod Terrell, Matthew Stone, Keith Mundy, Barry Mundy, and Brent Mundy.
