The following obituaries were received for Friday –


Deloris Junie Riley – Bedford
Deloris Junie Riley, 78, Bedford, passed away surrounded by family at 6:55 pm on Wednesday at Monroe Hospital.
Deloris was born in Oolitic on May 14, 1934 to parents, William and Mattie Bush. She was a free spirit and will be greatly missed by her loved ones.
Deloris is survived by brother, William Bush, Jr., sisters, Peggy Rocco, Mary Ellen Sowders and Matricia Butler and long-time companion, Mearle Hall. Also surviving are children, Paul Dorsett, Nancy Stancombe and Dennis Jones, twelve nieces and nephews, nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Deloris was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother, Estes Bush, Brother, Robert Bush, sister Rosemary Jones and husband, Robin Riley.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, October 29th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the hour of service on Monday, October 29th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
The family wish to express their gratitude for the care Deloris received from the doctors and staff at Monroe Hospital and Southern Care Hospice.

Harold Eugene “Gene” Smale
Harold Eugene “Gene” Smale, 85, Bedford, died at 8:03 pm on Wednesday, at his home.
Born June 30, 1927 in Bedford, he was the son of Fred Jacob and Dorothy (Blackwell)
Smale. He married Mary D. Morgan on June 25, 1950 and she died August 7, 2012. He
retired as a route salesman for the Nabisco Co. in 1988 after thirty-three years. He was a
Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII and a member of the Bartlettsville Christian
Church.
Survivors include three sons, Rick W. Smale and wife, Cindy, James D. Smale and wife,
Angie and David Allen Smale all of Bedford; a daughter, Terri Lynn Padget and husband,
John of Loogootee; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a brother, Walter Smale and daughter-in-law, Belinda Smale.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 29th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Jim Cain, the Pastor of the South Union Christian Church in Bloomington officiating. Burial will follow in the Judah Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 28th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
