The following obituaries were received for Tuesday –


Dasan E. Spires – Heltonville
Dasan E. Spires, 33, of Heltonville, passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2012 from injuries sustained in an auto accident which also claimed the life of his fiancé Laura Duncan.
Born March 15, 1979 in Bedford, he was the son of Michael and Christie (Harrell) Spires. He was a graduate of Bedford North Lawrence High School with the class of 1998. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he received a commendation medal for extinguishing a fire which threatened a plane and its’ pilot. He owned A-1 Excavating and was a member of the Operating Engineers Union Local 141 and of the Baptist faith. He loved his family and friends, riding his Harley, boating, weightlifting, the outdoors and caring for his dogs.
Survivors include his mother Christie, of Heltonville; his father, Michael, of Bedford; two brothers, Ty Spires, of Heltonville, Cam Spires and wife Amy, of Springville; a nieces, Chloe Spires; nephews, Caden and Casen Spires; Aunt, Donna Evans, of Heltonville; uncles, Greg Spires, of Bloomington, Steven Spires and wife, Cora, of Bedford, Tracy Spires and wife Mary, of Colorado; several cousins and his grandmother, Helen Spires, of Bedford.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Herbert Dale and Violet Harrell; his paternal grandfather, Charles Eugene Spires.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 2nd in the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with Randy Corbin officiating. Burial will follow in Gilgal Cemetery in Heltonville with military rites accorded at the graveside by members of Gillen Post 33 American Legion. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 1st and from 1 p.m. until the hour of service on Thursday, August 2nd at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
The family ask that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the Heltonville Fire Department, at P.O. Box 111, Heltonville, IN. 47436.
