Connie Mathews – Bedford
Connie Mathews, 67, of Bedford, passed away at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at her home.
Born July 24, 1944 in Bedford, she was the daughter of Lloyd G. and Mildred Ilene (Tolliver) Davis. She married Ed Nilson on January 20, 1961. She later married Girard (Jerry) Mathews and he survives. She retired as the postmaster at the Tunnelton Post Office. She was a life-time member of the Bedford Boat and Sportsmen’s Club and an avid golfer with three hole-in-ones. She enjoyed learning to master the 5-string banjo with her instructor, Brian Leaver and spending time at her winter home in Florida.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry, of Bedford; a daughter, Kathy Nilson-Brown and husband, Bob, of Mooresville; a son, Tyrus (Ty) Mathews and wife, DeeDee, of Bedford; grandchildren, Alyssa Gill, Tiffany O’Brien, Jarrid Mathews and fiancée Elizabeth Baldwin and Justin Mathews all of Bedford, Andy and Alex Brown, of Mooresville; siblings, Lloyd D. Davis and wife Brenda, Michael J. Davis and wife Sheila, Louella Webb and husband Ron, all of Bedford; a half-sister, Mary Ann Jenkins and husband Jim, of Bedford; a half-brother, Charles Ekins, of Bedford; a sister-in-law Kristie D. Mathews, of Bedford; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Sherri Lynn Nilson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 22, in the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with Pasto Donald Griffin officiating. Burial will follow in the White River Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 21st at Day and Carter Mortuary.
Pallbearers are: Ty Mathews, Jarrid Mathews, Justin Mathews, Bob Brown, Andy Brown, Alex Brown, Jason Cain and Alyssa Gil (honorary).
The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Bloomington Hospital.

Bentlee Wayne Keith Hughes – Bedford

Bentlee Wayne Keith Hughes, infant son of Edward and Rachelle (Sullivan) Hughes, of Bedford was born and died on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at St. Vincent Women’s Hospital in Indianapolis.
Survivors include his parents, of Bedford; one sister, Alexus Hughes, at home; paternal grandmother, Wilma Jena Hughes; maternal grandparents, Raymond and Sue Sullivan, all of Bedford; four aunts, Reneal (Roger) Hammer, of Springville, Lisa Mynatt, of Bedford, and Leeann Dixon, of Bedford; great-aunt, Bonnie Hughes, of Bedford; several cousins, Jarren Hammer, Jayla Hammer, both of Springville, Kaylee Hunter and Alison Sullivan, both of Bedford, Ashley Jimizez, Derik Cardenas, Blysse Cardenas, Samantha Dixon, Gracie Samples, Raul Cardenas, all of South Carolina, Banca Flores, Macy Potoroff, Lacy Dixon, Rueger, Hailey and Remington, of Orleans.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Gary Wayne Hughes, and great-uncle Larry Hughes, maternal great-grandmother, Barbara (Ova) Paker, maternal great-grandmother Dora (Charles) Sullivan.
A memorial visitation will be held at 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Guide Pointe Church in Bedford.

Fred Gray – Mitchell

Fred Gray, 72, of Mitchell, passed away at 4:20 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at Garden Villa in Bedford.
Born August 20, 1939, in Leatherwood, Kentucky, he was the son of Pearl and Anne (Gray) Gray. He was a retired from Mitchell Transport, and enjoyed the outdoors and riding motorcycles. Fred was a U. S. Air Force veteran and a member of American Legion Post No. 250, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.
Survivors include friend, Marla Dorsett, of Mitchell; children, Tina Conard, of Bedford, Bill Gray, of Bedford, Kenny Thompson, of Mitchell; 3 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; sisters, Marie Caraway, of Mitchell, Carol Edwards, of Mitchell, Patty Howell, of Bloomington, Shelby Jean Conley, of Dunnellon, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Ted Gray, Zane Gray, and Merle Gray.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 22, at Mitchell Cemetery with military honors conducted by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No.9107.
