The following obituaries were received for Tuesday –


Naomi I. Gridley – Bedford
Naomi I. Gridley, 92, of Bedford, passed away at 7:45 a.m. on Friday, May 25, 2012 at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital.
Born December 28, 1919 in Greene County, she was the daughter of Byrd and Esther (Jeffers) Jackson. She married Homer Grdley on December 24, 1938 and he preceded her in death in 1997. She was a member of the Oolitic Baptist Church for over 50 years where she taught Sunday School and Bible School. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary 8 and 40 and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and held several officers in all three organizations.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Terry, of Bedford, Margaret Riggs and husband David, of Oolitic; two granddaughters, Brett Terry, of Westfield and Kirsten Gore and husband John, of Bedford; a great grandson, Jackson Gore; one brother, Ray Jackson and wife Marilyn, of Bedford.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sisters, Eva Hudson, Helen Gaines, Mary Beatrice Jackson; one brother, George Jackson and a son-in-law Ron Terry.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Richard Tallman officiating. Entombment with be at Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at the Day & Carter Mortuary and also from 9 a.m. until the hour of service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to your favorite charity.

Lotus “Imogene” Crane – Shoals
Lotus “Imogene” Crane, 90, of Shoals, passed away on May 25, 2012 at 11:25 p.m. at the White River Lodge in Bedford. She was born on April 3, 1922 in Martin County to William M. and Fannie (Chastain) Taylor. She married Lowell Crane on October 8, 1939 in Bedford. He preceded her in death on March 9, 1999.
Imogene was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a homemaker. She was a member of the Trinity Springs Church of Christ.
Survivors include Lotus June and husband Harley Neiderffer, of Shoals; John Robert and wife Roberta Crane, of Bedford; Brenda Eagan and husband Chris, of Washington; Sandra Mae Salmon and husband Ronnie Baker, of Loogootee; Lowell Edward Crane and wife Dawn, of Shoals; 11 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; one step granddaughter; sisters Annabell Fields, Bedford, Opal Dale Mullis, of Bloomington, Hildred Taylor, of Shoals.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two great-grandsons, one sister Vernell Rainey and one brother John Taylor.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at the Queen-Lee Funeral Home in Shoals. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Trinity Springs Cemetery.

Zella Lawson – Mitchell
Zella Lawson, 91, of Mitchell, passed away at 9 p.m. Sunday, May 27, 2012, at Westview Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born November 1, 1920, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Oatley Ray and Ruth (Wagner) Brown. She married Aaron Lawson May 17, 1946 and he preceded her in death September 16, 1989.
She had been employed at Trav-Ler Radio Corporation and for many years. She was owner and operator of the Northside Grocery. Zella was a member of the Faith Christian Center in Salem.
Survivors include her sisters, Regina Stroud, of Mitchell, Ollie Sarah and husband Dean Jackson, of Columbus, Ellen and husband Jerry George, of Bedford, Edna Rainey, of Bedford.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Roy, Charles, Kenneth, and Warren Brown.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 31, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Bro. Dean Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:30 a.m. until the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
