The following obituaries were received for Monday –


Nellie Crane Arthur – Medora
Nellie Crane Arthur, 87, of Medora, died at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday at the home of her daughter.
Born Dec. 10, 1924, in Daviess County, she was the daughter of Arnold and May (Pershing) Kelsey. She first married John Crane on Oct. 12, 1942, and he preceded her in death on June 23, 1967. She later married Auddie Arthur on Aug. 3, 1968, and he preceded her in death on May 12, 2006.
She worked at Trav-Ler Radio and Television Corporation in Orleans for 10 years.
Mom attended the East Oolitic Community Church. She was a member of the Women of the Moose Chapter 801 and Euchre Club.
She donated to a different charity each month, always putting everyone else first.
Her hobbies were quilting, yard sales, game shows, country and gospel music, and she was an avid euchre player. Her greatest enjoyment was being with family and friends.
She never met anyone she didn’t like or anyone that didn’t love her. She was Mom to a lot of people, but to her children, Our Mother, Our Angel always watching over us all.
Survivors include four sons, John Crane and wife Jo of Mitchell, Billy Crane and wife Linda of Orleans, Randall Crane and wife Debbie of Linton, and Steve Crane and wife Bonnie of New Orleans; one daughter, Brenda Silvers of Medora; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; two sons, Leland and Jerry Crane; two daughters, Wanda and Nancy Crane; four brothers, Russell, Calvin, Dennis and Claude; two sisters, Fern Nicholson and Alice Bland; and one son-in-law, Jack Silvers.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Monday in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Millard Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Springville West Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service on Monday at the mortuary.

Mary E. Criswell – Franklin

Mary E. Criswell, 94, of Franklin, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the United Methodist Home in Franklin.
Born August 17, 1917 in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Marion G. and Emma E. (Allen) Brinegar. She married Loman V. Criswell on November 11, 1942and he preceded her in death on May 29, 1994. She was a member of the First Church of God in Bedford and the WCG at the First Church of God.
Survivors include one daughter Suzy Benner and her husband Lyman, of Franklin; two grandchildren Kari McMillin and her husband Josh of Franklin, and Ryan Benner, of Franklin; two great grandchildren Molly and Callahan McMillan, of Franklin; one sister-in-law Annabelle Brinegar, of Indianapolis; nieces and nephews: Stephen Brinear and wife Patty, Aaron Brinegar, Peri Combs and her husband David and Mary J. Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Eva Jones and Bernice Leonard and two brothers, Ivan Brinegar and George Brinegar and his wife Roxie.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 in the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in the Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the service on Tuesday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
