Denny Ray Perkins – Bedford
Denny Ray Perkins, 78, of Bedford, died Tuesday at Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born Sept. 26, 1933, he was the son of Floyd and Clonia (Page) Perkins. Denny grew up on the farm his great-grandparents homesteaded on North Pike. He married Samantha “Sammy” Catherine Crane on June 6, 1953, and she survives.
Denny earned his living trimming trees and as a mechanic and truck driver with his wife as a team. He was a member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church where he had held a number of offices including the chairman of trustees. He was always an outdoorsman, enjoying time in the woods with his family camping, 4-wheeling and hiking.
Survivors include his wife, Sammy of Bedford; their children, Denise and husband Clifford Buckingham, Roger and wife Kathy Perkins, Pam and husband John Dean, Jeffery and wife Debbie Perkins and Andrew Perkins, all local residents; grandchildren, Paul and wife Christine Buckingham and their sons, Connor and Ryan of Mason, Ohio, Catherine Buckingham of Salt Flat, Texas, Shane and wife Tannalee Chapman and sons, Gavin and Maddox of Bloomington, Adam Chapman and daughter, Madison of Avoca, Kyle Chapman of Bloomington, Alan Perkins of Bedford, Wesley and wife Victoria Perkins and daughters, Maleah and Jasmyn of Bedford; and two sisters, Linda Hache and Patricia and husband Richard Brigner both of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gordon Perkins; and sisters, Jackie Rose and husband Chuck Meisinger and Roberta and husband Charles Kimmel.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with John Meunier officiating. Burial will follow in the Tunnelton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday at the mortuary.

Roberta Ann Scripture – Bedford

Roberta Ann Scripture, 80, of Bedford, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at her home.
Born on January 1, 1932, in Cutler, IN., she was the daughter of Noah Frank and Mary Oliver (Swisher) Coulter. She married Robert E. Scripture on March 19, 1950 and he preceded her in death in 2005. They were married 55 years.
Roberta grew up in Frankfort and graduated from Frankfort High School in 1950. Robert and Roberta raised three children and moved to Indianapolis in 1966. He attended nursing school at Ivy Tech and worked as an LPN for 15 years, retiring in 1995. She and her husband moved to Bedford in 2004 to be closer to their daughters.
“Bert” loved tending flowers and entertaining family and friends and was happy playing games or making puzzles. She attended two churches, the First Christian Church and the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her three children, Williams Scripture and his wife Chin, of Farmington Hill, MI., Cheryl Ammon and husband Robin, of Bedford, Mary Anderson and husband Steve, of Bedford; 6 grandchildren, Rock Ammon, of Bedford, Kelly Ammon and companion Kevin Kieffer, of Brownsburg, Robert Scripture and wife Colleen, of Highland, MI., Dion Scripture, of Niantic, CT., Neal Andrews, of Pittsburgh, PA., Garrett Andrews, of Bedford; four great grandchildren, Haley Ammon, Logan Ammon, Amy Scripture and Hana Scripture; 4 siblings, Carolyn Robertson, of Frankfort, Jean White, of Colfax, Larry Coulter and wife Kathy, of Lakeview and Dianna Snapp and husband Larry, of Camden.
Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, March, 16, 2012 at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Monday, March 19, 2012 at Goodwin Funeral Home in Frankfort with visitation from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Rev. Bob Dailey will officiate. Burial will follow at Bunnell Cemetery in Frankfort. Memorial contributions can be made to the First Christian or the First Baptist churches in Bedford.
