The following obituaries were received for Friday –


James “Jake” Webster – Bedford
James “Jake” Webster, 45, of Bedford, passed away at 12:28 p.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Garden villa in Bedford.
Born January 31, 1967 in Greenville, Mississippi, he was the son of James and Doris (Johnson) Madison.
Jake resided at The Michael’s House portion of Garden Villa for over ten years. Jake had several peers that resided with him. He had become very close with several of the nurses and caregivers while at Michael’s House.
Survivors include his father, James Webster, of Elkhart; Mother Doris Madison, of Alabama; two sisters, Tosha Webster, of Alabama, Joanna Webster, Indiana; one brother, Gregory Webster, of Indiana, step-mother, Kay Weshues, of Elkhart.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 3 p.m.at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, with Pastor Kenny Walden officiating. Burial will follow at Dive Cemetery.
Friends may call on Saturday, February 18th from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Roger Elwayne Tanksley – Mitchell
Roger Elwayne Tanksley, 77, of Mitchell, passed away at 4 p.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at White River Lodge in Bedford.
Born May 1, 1934 in Manchester, Kentucky, he was the son of Raleigh and Stella (Robinson) Tanksley Jr. He had been a security guard at Carpenter Body Works and had been employed as a truck driver. Roger was a member of LifePoint Christian Church and a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his sisters, Patricia Kirby, of Cloverdale, Brenda Reed, of Georgetown, Virginai Turner, of Loveland, Ohio; brothers John Chastain, of Bell, Florida, dean Tanksley, of Mitchell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Shirley Jones and Joan Kitzero and brother Jimmy Tanksley.
Cremation was chosen and graveside services will be at a later date in Hop Cemetery.

Shelva Taylor – Jonesville
Shelva Taylor, 65, of Jonesville, passed away at 9:12 a.m. on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at his home.
Born September 19, 1949 in Lawrence County, he was the son of George and Nina (Kines) Taylor. He first married Catherin “Cat” Eads. He later married Brenda Taylor and she preceded him in death. He retired as a plumber for Turpin Plumbing and Heating and was a former member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his children, Shelby Taylor and Nina Taylor both of Bedford, Melissa Snovelle, of Jonesville, Pauline Hanson, of Oaklahoma, OK., Michael Taylor and Kevin Taylor, both of Bedford; several grandchildren; one great grandchild, a host of nieces and nephews; two brothers, James Taylor, of Peru, and Leroy Taylor, of Mitchell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Brenda, two sisters, Jonanne Craig and Minnie Taylor, one brother George Taylor.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at the Kurtz Cemetery with Clarence Brown officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Friday at Day & Carter Mortuary.

Ruth Adele Ratliff – Bedford
Ruth Adele Ratliff, 72, of Bedford, passed away at 4 p.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Mitchell Manor.
Born August 31, 1939 in Leesville, she was the daughter of Charlie and Dena (Brown) Cook. She married Carl Ratliff on January 1, 1958 and he survives.
She was a 1957 graduate of Tunnelton High School. She was a homemaker and formerly attended White River Baptist Church for many years and Unity Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Carl Ratliff, of Fort Ritner; seven sons, Phillip and wife Debra Ratliff, of Bedford, Fran and wife Sheri Ratliff, of Olathe, KS, Alvin and wife Deanna Ratliff, of Salem, Bryan Ratliff, of Vallonia, Anthony and wife Stacie Ratliff, of Bedford, Curtis and wife Monica Ratliff, of Bedford, Alan and wife Amanda, of Bedford; 20 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; two brothers, Henry and wife Bonnie Ratliff, of Mitchell, Harry and wife Lovie Cook, of Bedford; two sisters, Rachel and husband Marvin Garrison, of Orleans, Virginia and husband Larry Hill, of Shelbyville; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one great-grandson.
Funeral services will be on Monday, February 20, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Meadows officiating. Burial will follow in Dixon Chapel Cemetery in Leesville.
