Hazel E. Fender – Bedford
Hazel E. Fender, 95, of 929 L Street, died at 3:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at her home.
Born August 19, 1916, in Bedford, she was the daughter of James A. and Cora M. (Dalton) Hoopingarner. She married Kenneth R. Fender on August 11, 1937 and he preceded her in death in 1981. She was an assembly worker at General Motors and a lifetime member of UAW Local 440.
Survivors included one daughter, Sue Johnson and her husband Don of Bedford; one son, Jerry Fender, of Bedford; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons, Robert Lee Fender, and John David Fender, two sisters, Flora White and Lucille Hendrickson, three brothers, Clyde, Floyd and Paul Hoopingarner.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 9, 2011 at the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. James Hoopingarner officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 8th at the mortuary.
