Lowell Helton- Owensburg
Lowell Helton, 64, Owensburg, passed away at 12:36 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2001 at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born April 24, 1947, in Alfordsville, he was the son of Oscar and Thelma (Botkin) Helton. He married Patricia Thompson on June 2, 1967. Lowell founded the C&H Stone Company, where he continued to work until his death. Of his many accomplishments, he was proudest of his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia, of Owensburg; two sons, Brice Helton and wife, Becky, and their children: Heather, Brock, Bryant and Macy; Jeremy Helton and wife, Erin and their children: Ethan, Drew and Brent; two sisters and three brothers. He leaves behind a large extended family that he loved greatly and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Thelma Helton; his second parents, Delmare and Betty Thompson; three sisters and one brother.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 4, at the Owensburg Cemetery in Owensburg.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, September 3, in the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the Salvation Army.
