Russell Bates – Bedford
Russell Bates of Bedford passed away Friday afternoon at IU Health Bloomington Hospital at the age of 80.
Born in 1930 in Lawrence County to William and Lucille Bates, Russell married Jeanette Doane in 1952 and she survives.
Russell was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the US Army.
He is survived by his wife, daughter Marsha, 2 grandsons, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Ronald and Roland.
Visitation is today from 4pm to 8pm at Day and Carter with funeral services being held Wednesday at 10am at St. Vincent de Paul Church
Philip “Phil” Ellingsworth – Bedford
Philip “Phil” Ellingsworth of Bedford passed away Friday night at IU Heatlh Bloomington Hospital at the age of 52.
Born in 1959 in Bedford he was the son of Wayne Ellingsworth and Marian Williams, he married Kyle East in 1979 and she survives.
Phil was self employed at PCMK engineering.
Phil is survived by his wife, mother, sons Michael and Cody and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Wayne and best friend Matt.
Visitation is today from 3pm to 8pm at Day and Carter, with funeral services being held Wednesday at 2pm at Day and Carter.
Norma Armstrong – San Antonio
Norma Armstrong of San Antonio Texas, formerly of Bedford passed away Friday morning at Meridian Health Care in San Antonio at the age of 78.
Born in 1933 in Lawrence County to Lewis and Edna Smith, Norma married John Armstrong and he preceded her in death in 1988.
Norma was a member of the Faith Mission Church in Bedford. Norma is survived by her daughter Teresa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sisters Wanda and Barbara.
Visitation will be held from 5pm to 7pm on Wednesday and 10am until time of service on Thursday at Day and Carter, services will be held at 11am on Thursday also at Day and Carter.
