Allard Marvin Mears – Bedford
Allard Marvin Mears of Bedford passed away Friday afternoon, September 10th at Bloomington Hospital at the age of 75. Born in 1935 in Lawrence County to Allard and Elva Mears, he had been married to Alberta Merry, served 4 years in the U.S. Army and 8 years in the Air Force. Allard was also a truck driver for 20 years, was a member of American Legion Gillen Post #33 and was a member of Eagles Lodge and Moose Lodge. He is survived by two sisters, Patricia Canada and Karen Cornett; one brother, Robert Keynon; five step-children; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Terry Lee Mears and Robert Brown; five sisters, Magdline Sallee, Donna Haub, Dorothy Caldwell, Betty Gaddis and Sue Tincher. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 14th at 1:00PM at Ferguson – Lee Funeral Home with burial to follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00AM until 1:00PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Military honors will be accorded graveside by members of American Legion Gillen Post #33.
Violet Reynolds – Bedford
Violet Reynolds of Bedford passed away on Sunday, September 12th at her home at the age of 94. Born in 1916 in Lawrence County to David and Dessie Ray, she had been married to Herbert Reynolds since 1933, was a professional pie baker and was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church for over 60 years. She is survived by one son, Jerry Reynolds; three daughters, Judith Sharer, Vickie White and Nancy Armstrong; one sister, Wilma Fields; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Sandra; as well as two grandchildren and two brothers, David and John Ray. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 15th at 11:00AM at Ferguson – Lee Funeral Home with burial to follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:00PM until 8:00PM on Tuesday, September 14th at the funeral home.
