Robert Allen of Owensburg passed away Monday, February 15th at Bloomington Hospital at the age of 85.
Born in 1924 in Martin County to parents John Thomas and Ola (Bays) Allen, he had been married to Margaret Ashcraft since 1951, was retired as a carpenter shop foreman for NWSC Crane and was of christian faith.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, was a member of the Solsberry Masonic Lodge, Sottish Rite of Terre Haute and the American Legion of Bloomfield.
He is survived by his wife; one son, Jeff Allen and his wife Linda; one daughter, Debbie Lewis and her husband Jim; several grandchildren; three brothers, Carl, John and Jim Allen; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Paul Allen; three sisters, Helen Leukhart, Nellie Boling and Mabel Allen; as well as one nephew.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 20th at 1:00PM in the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with burial to follow in the Owensburg Cemetery.
Military rites will be accorded at the graveside.
Visitation will be from 3:00PM until 8:00PM on Friday, February 19th and from noon until the hour of service on Saturday, February 20th at Day & Carter Mortuary.
A masonic service will be conducted at 7:00PM on Friday, February 19th at the Solsberry Masonic Lodge.
