Edgar Harold Abner of Bedford passed away Sunday, January 17th at Bedford Regional Medical Center at the age of 83.
Born in 1926 in Germantown, Ohio to Pleas and Jannie (Ginter) Abner, she had been married to Clarice East since 1947.
Edgar was a truck driver for Sims Motor Transport for 33 years, was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific, was a member of Emmanual Lutheran Church where he served as an elder and church treasurer.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Joan “Jo” Travis and Cindy Powell; several grandchildren; sisters, Lida Jane Greer, Mary Lou Shear, Ethel Stevenson, Patty Nelson, Carolyn Thompson and Renotta Wilcox; brothers, Ernest Abner, Paul Abner and David Abner.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William, Boyd, Raymound, Robert, Woodfard and Thomas Dewey.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 20th at 2:00PM at the Emmanual Lutheran Church in Leesville with burial to follow in Leesville Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00PM until 8:00PM on Tuesday, January 19th at Ferguson – Lee Funeral Home and from 1:00PM until 2:00PM on Wednesday, January 20th at the funeral home.
Military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Gillen Post #33.
