Norma J. Day Brodhecker Maxwell, 85, Bedford

Norma J. Day Brodhecker Maxwell o f Bedford passed away Monday morning at her residence at the age of 85.


Born in 1924 in Lawrence County to parents James A. and Sarah M. (Craig) Day, she was of non-denominational Protestant faith and belonged to God’s Church, was a graduate of Fayetteville High School in 1942, was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Gillen Post #33 American Legion and V.F.W. Post #1686.
Norma had been married to Curtis G. Brodhecker since 1943 and later Doyle “Hickory” Maxwell in 1974.
She is survived by daughters, Sondra Gilly and her husband Roger, Ellen Moutardier and her husband Rick, Rebecca Nikirk and her husband Reggie, Susan Brodhecker; four step-children, Greg, Barry, Connie and Bonnie Maxwell; ten grandchildren, Jeanne Anne Hopkins and her husband Brian, Deborah Marling and her husband Damon, Stephen Gilley and his wife Jenny, Ryan Moutardier and his wife Marci, Curtis Mourtardier and his wife Trisha, Kent Moutardier and his wife Kara, Eric Nikirk and his wife Julie, Scott Nikirk and his wife Jamie, Nathan Nikirk and his wife Amy, Jennifer Nikirk; 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; siblings, Earl Day, Blanche Short, Paul Day, Isabelle Akers, Rose Anne Chastain, Sarah Copeland, Marian Spray and a close cousin and friend, Miriam Wagoner.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 23rd at 11:00AM from the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary.
A graveside committal will be conducted at 1:00PM at Fairview Cemetery in Brownstown.
Visitation is from 2:00PM until 8:00PM on Thursday, October 22nd at Day & Carter Mortuary.
