Martha V. Jewell of Bedford passed away Thursday afternoon at Bedford Regional Medical Center at the age of 85.
Born in 1923 in Texarkana, Arkansas to Michael and Loutie May Elkins, Martha was a homemaker and former co-owner of Three Pigs Restaurant in Bedford, and member of County Avenue Baptist Church in Texarkana, and Southern Baptist Church, Free Methodist Church and Tabernacle of Praise locally.
She is survived by her son Curtis, daughters Janice and Debbie, brothers William, Charles, and Wayne, sisters Dovie and Helen, one aunt, 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Omar, brothers James, Eugene and Fincher, and sister Ruth.
Services will be held this afternoon at 3:00pm at the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with burial to follow at Green Hill Cemetery.
