Staff Sgt. Cory Woodard of Bedford passed away Sunday at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianpolis following a tragic accident at the age of 27.
Born in 1981 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Tony and Brenda Woodard, Cory was a soldier with the Indiana Army National Guard serving in Bosnia, Afghanistan and Iraq, attending Indiana State University in between deployments majoring in criminology, bassist for the local band “I Scream,” and member of VFW Salem Post #6636.
He is survived by his sisters Jennifer, Teena, Amie and Lorie, brother Sean, 6 nieces and nephews, his brothers in Charlie Company, and many friends.
Services will be held tomorrow evening at 6:00pm at the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with cremation to follow.
Visitation will be from 10:00am until time of service tomorrow at Day & Carter.
