Don Armstrong, 90, Springville

Don Armstrong of Springville passed away Tuesday morning at Stonebridge Health Campus in Bedford at the age of 90.


Born in 1918 in Owensburg to Felix and Eula Armstrong, Don was a 6th generation cattleman, farmer and educator, teaching in Springville, Dive, Smithville, Needmore and Harrodsburg schools, contractor for NSWC Crane, worked with the Department of Agriculture in Monroe County, an organizer of the Springville Feeder Auction, columnist for the Bloomington Herald Times, Conservation Farmer of the Year, and member of Popcorn Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife Rose, sons Joe and Alan, 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and several step grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Harry, daughter Leslie and son Mark.
Services will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 at the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with burial to follow at Lowder Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00pm Friday at Day & Carter.
