Clarissie Carroll of Mitchell, known to friends and family as “Granny,” passed away Friday afternoon at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 102.
Born in 1905 in Sandborn to Charles and Flaura Hagemeier, Granny was a watchman at Georgia Fire Tower, farmer alongside her husband, and member of Spice Valley Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughters Sheila, Jessie and Patricia, granddaughter whom she raised Georgia, half brother Bobby, half sister Mary, 9 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 15 great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Clinton, daughter June, son Wallace, 2 grandsons, 2 brothers, 3 sisters, and 2 half-brothers.
Services were held today at 11:00am at the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with burial following at Mitchell Cemetery.
