Russell H. Smith of Bedford passed away Tuesday evening at Dunn Memorial Hospital at the age of 85.
Born in 1922 in Monroe County to marshal and May Smith, Russell was an Army veteran of World War II, farmer, mill worker and member of the Judah Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife Kathleen, sons Ron, Cutt and Mike, daughters Ellen and Rita, sister Margie, 14 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Maxine and freed and brother Paul.
Services were held this morning at 10:00am at the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with burial following at Judah Church Of Christ Cemetery.
